I don't get anybody who says MWO will die because of ALPHA STRIKE. What hog wash.

The HBS project will be turn based strategy, probably isometric view or top town like Mega Mek. It will be running on Linux, Mac and Windows (Oh hell yeah!) It will be more like turn based MechCommander.

But there will always be players who want to be the person driving the mech, and there are people who will prefer running a whole lance or company. And there will be people who want to do both.

No matter what anybody's opinion is of MWO, its game play, its mechanics, and PGI, there will always be a player base for this game.
Suggesting otherwise, is a bitter fantasy.

The tanks, however, I can't identify. They do appear to be on the lighter end of the Battletech scale for tanks or possibly mediums. The lead one has what appears to be an AC of some sort for a main gun and s pintel mounted MG on top of the turret. The one behind it, however, also has a square box on top of the turret, possibly an LRM or SRM rack of some sort. So, any guesses at what we're seeing here?

That smaller tank in the front is the Scorpion Light Tank.

That second tank in the background - the one with that "box" on the turret - is the Manticore Heavy Tank. That "box" is LRM-10 launcher.

While the Scorpion is a cheap and not especially good vehicle (unless mass deployed), the Manticore is one of the best tanks you can use in this era.

Well...PGI and HBS are going to officially make me a poor person and i dont even care because i will be the most entertained poor person in existence.

Lol, well I think in the long run HBS will save you money, since it will be a premium game. As in, all the Mechs will come with the game (no grind/no additional cost), and all the content updates likely will be free as they were with their Shadowrun games.

That's the beauty of non-f2p's games.

Definitely looking forward to backing. During an interview Jordan said there is a good chance there will be a multiplayer stretch goal. That excites me most of all, a BT game with an MP component that is fully not f2p would be amazing (get all Mechs/content for base price of game).

A game with the artwork from Alex, and the leading expertise of battletech creator Jordan Weisman. Yes, I guess I could trust him about developing an appropriate gameplay... and start waiting.

Personally I have high doubts this will turn out anywhere near what we deserve after this long, but will buy it if it turns out really good.

I dont dont kickstarters anymore I will buy a game I like when it's complete.

Well, people won't abandon MWO for BattleTech until early 2017 at the earliest, so PGI has a year and a half to do whatever they can to keep people here.

I kick started Torment Numenra... no problem waitng. Now don't get me wrong, I'll still play MWO, but I'm not putting anymore money into this game because of how PGI does things, while also knowing a better Btech game is coming along.

Also, the target demographics of FPS games and turn-based strategy games do not exactly overlap perfectly, so I'm sure there's room for both games.

I doubt you'll find any pure FPSers here... what you will find is battletech fans though.

Regardless, I'm glad I didnt put money into the MAD pack... I will put money into the Btech kickstarter.

Jordan Weissman created BattleTech. Do you need to know anything else about him?

HBS is his company, and they have a string of three successful turn-based Shadowrun games in the last three years - all kickstarted like they propose to do with BattleTech, i.e. kickstart for extra features.

If it's anything like their Shadowrun games, it's just a sticker price. Buy it, play it, that's it. No schemes, no in-game stores, no subs - but there may well be a level editor (there's one in their Shadowrun games).

I would like all of the above.
