Wow....I've either got to play a lot more to get my skills back (and this is likely) or this challenge is much harder than previous ones.

Used to be "get a 30 match score" and I would easily do that most every game.

Now, with the new scoring and "get a 300 match score", which I could get just as easily as the old 30, I'm just screwed (read "lousier than I ever imagined"). In 8 pug matches, 5 wins, 3 losses I've yet to hit 300.

The only thing that has changed is the new PSR, so I'm forced to conclude that it just doesn't freakin' like me.

I'm sure that many of you are doing just fine, but I'm just getting boned no matter what I try. I've tried for assists, kills, teamwork and I just can't do it.

Toss in that the maps you get are obviously randomly chosen and if you miss a map you need, or fail on it it could be a long time til you see it again, and I'm screwed.

Please God, sink me to tier 5 quickly.

I don't think that many are doing fine to be honest.

The amount of time you have to invest is big. And not everyone have steady and continous damage matches.

Did laugh at your last sentence. ;)

Tier 5 is a happy place. It isn't nearly as bad as most people think when EVERYONE in the drop is tier 5.

It is harder than the previous challenges. The previous match score of 30 is roughly 150 in the new system. So the difficulty for the entry reward is twice as high at 300, and the 400 is 2.6 times higher.

I've only played light mechs in this challenge so far, so I assumed it was me sucking.

I swear that before the new PSR came in and the scoring was changed I was having no trouble getting 300 match scores. Now.....the closest I've gotten is 276. Most are int eh mid 200's. So it must be more difficult. Just to be clear, Im not complaining about the difficulty....just trying to figure out what has changed.

Probably I'm rusty cus I'm not playing nearly as much as I used to, but there's something else at play too.

Much more fun than in the tiers where you must have a meta mech to do good....

Old system 300 damage = 30 match points. New system 300 damage = 150 match points. The challenge that has run post the PSR implementation using the new match score used a target of 150 match points (Blood money). This one is using 300 match points so they have doubled the required match target for this event. Nothing else at play unless they have changed how match scores are calculated.

EDIT: Sorry, there was no way you were having no problem getting 300 point match scores in the old system. 300 damage maybe, but not match score. A 1,000 damage game with 3 kills and a few assists was in the 130 point range in the old system.

lol 30 and 300 are not at the same value at all. 300 is more like a 50-60 match score if you go just on damage
from the old match rating from what I understand and feel.

No..actually the old 30 match score translated very well to a 300 match score. Now....as many have pointed out it doesn't appear to.

If you got 300 damage you got 30 match score.

Now i can get 300 + damage and assists, a kill or two and still miss the 300 match score by a significant margin.

No it doesn't, that's where you have it wrong - 150 is the equal match score to 30 in the old system, not 300. 300 is about equal to 60 in the old system. It's been that way since PSR was implemented.

Old system:

Win: 10 points
Kills: 1 point
Assists: 1 point
Component Destroyed: 1 point
Spotting Assist: 1 point
Damage: 1 point for every 10 damage
Team Kill: -5 points

new system: (http://mwomercs.com/...ed-for-science/)

Win: 20 points
Killing blow 4 points
Assist 3 points
Damage 1 point for every 2 damage
Team Kill -50 points

The thing is, it's not. (And btw, it's 150 match score that's allegedly the same as the old 30.)

While it is true that the damage needed to get a qualifying score hasn't changed, it is nevertheless more difficult reach 150 than it used to be to reach 30.

Why? Because the other points you can score weren't ramped up the same way that damage was. I.e. the new system is far more damage focused than the old one.

300 damage will still get you there. But under the old system, 150 damage in a win with a kill and 5 assists could also do it. Under the new system that'll get you maybe 80-90 match score if you're lucky.

People keep saying that the new system encourages teamwork, but it really doesn't. It encourages doing a lot of damage. The old system encouraged teamwork, because that's how you rack up all those little 1 and 2 point awards for flanking, etc. Under the old system those awards could get you to 30, but they're barely an afterthought when you're trying to get to 150.

300 in the new scoring is nowhere as easy as 30 was in the old.

You had to have really bad luck or do something terribly wrong to not get 30.

Yep, this has been a frustrating challenge for me as well. Is that what they were going for?

I haven't played in nearly 3 months. I hope I am in tier 5. But in Firefall, jump jets really work great !
