Given any time we've ever asked this in the past we're told they count multiple logins as multiple people, take that to half or a third

PGI is good at math. PGI is good at balancing. That is why the game is so awesome.

It would be a good challenge, IF:

The matchmaker would actively try to get you onto maps which you have not yet completed.
or
There was an option to select 2-3 maps as "favorite", so that the matchmaker will factor that in.

As it is, it is just a grinding mess of pure chance and randomness. More lottery than actual challenge.

If anyone can finish this in a spider or a commando, then pgi did the math.
if those 2 mechs cannot finish this even, pgi balanced this just like they balance weaponry.

They didn't balance this event out at all. I can't even run light mechs which are my favorite. Constantly using missile boats for score is getting old fast.

The 400 Matchscore is fine by me. It's challenging.... well, not in an arctic cheetah but for those without it, it is challenging. The thing that f*cks it all up is the requirement of having to play on every map. With no function where I can select or deselect unwanted maps it becomes a chore.

Have it like in the past with 10 matches for a reward or a gift pack for +400 matches or something like that. I've never seen someone complain about the gift packages so why not stick with that? Only complaint I had back then was how easy it was to get them.

DONT BASE CAPTURE !!!!!

I have played four games now where the "other team" have piled around and captured the base to win the game ( hoooorrraaaahhhh ! )

Meaning that no-one gets near the 300 point minimum to score on that map - not even the tactically astute and super-mobile winners

Annoying on a map you already have - but bat-****, punch the monitor, crazy on the ones you still need.

I have 1 more map to go for tier 1, 2 more for tier 2.

Its stupidly frustrating that in order to stand any chance of completing this event, I need a 1 in 10 lottery chance to get the map I need, and than I need to hope my team is at least decent enough to not get rolled so I can get the score I need.

No wonder early game suicides have been so common all of a sudden. I'm even tempted to do that myself. Heck, if I already obtained tier 2 for the map and I observe my team dicking around, I would just charge right at them guns blazin. If my team follows, great. If not, NEXT MAP! I ain't got time for ********...need to get back to the grind...

Could we also give queue priority to non easy mode Mechs during these sorts of events please. The number of SCR/TBR/DWF's at the moment is just silly.

I expect to make about the same as the last challenge... No way I'll ever finish all of it.

This is the first challenge where I actually feel frustrated with the game. I think I am going to bow out now.

What frustrates me more than map selection is the fact that a bunch of scrubs keep disco'ing. They overheat right off the bat, die, and disconnect so that they can drop again. That cripples the team.

I just had an HPG Manifold match where three of my teammates did not participate. It's awfully hard to get your 400 match score when you're 9v12 right out of the gate. It was a roll.

That behaviour is awful and makes the game not fun for everyone left.

On the other hand, it is almost a REQUIREMENT based on the tournament design from PGI unless you happen to have the time for potentially hundreds of matches. The folks doing this likely require only one more map to complete the challenge but due to the random nature they only have a 1/9 chance of getting that last map. If they want to finish it as quickly as possible the only option is to pretend to fight, die quickly, exit and start a new match hoping for that one map.

It IS bad behaviour but to be honest, in this case, it is driven by bad design.

Simply because it's a bad design doesn't mean folks have to behave in this manner. I don't, even though it means taking longer to get my scores.

in any game, players respond to incentives

offered limited time to earn rewards, using time as efficiently as possible is a predictable response; good design should preclude for situations where efficient behavior produces bad gameplay.

PGI tried to do this by preventing early disconnects; unfortunately, they couldn't make that portion work right.

I agree with everyone that the tournament is borked, but I look at it this way: I will play as much as I usually do, enjoy my matches, and if I win great. So far, I need 5 more for tier 2, and that is after one day of playing.

If waited for PGI to make rational decisions I would be fossilized long before ot happened.

In solo q, some people are disconnecting/tabbing out if they don't get the map they need for the event, creating 10vs12 situations and worse. Fun times, wp PGI.

It's frustrating when you finally get one of the maps that you need to raise your score on but right off the bat you get DCs and end up losing badly. I hope they change the requirements to make it less RNG based.
