i had a pretty cool idea to cause guys to really pay attention to their heat during combat.
after looking over the newly release cocpit art... you should code it in so if a player has to use flush to bring down his heat, then the game should have a cinematic click in were the player has to look down at the console and you would then see a hand reach out and flip the switch,, all the time the player would be suseptable to enemy fire. so unlike mw3-4 you cant just flush and keep gunning. actually causeing a pause in game play to use the coolant for the pilot. only a second or two.. but make it were he has to visuly take his eyes off the battlefeild.

It seems fairly good. It would solve heat sink issue without removing them. ^_^

Would that situation be similar to driving an automobile in manual transmission, and looking at the stick every time you shift gears with both hands?

Spacial awareness, a pilot's best friend, that and multi-tasking.

I'd rather not see the "Flush" mechanic at all. Heat sinks aren't the same as a refreshing of coolant. If it is in, however; I'm with others spacial awareness is the key I don't have to look at my mouse to push the right mouse button or my keyboard to type it's just something you know where it's at from muscle memory.

its not so much about could u or can u... more of a force you to be aware at all times.. i mean why not another machanic in between overheating and shut down.. hence the 1-2 sec. annimation.. more or less a "glance" off the feild. wich.... just because u have the awareness to turn a *** or flip a switch doesnt mean you never actually LOOK at what you are doing.. just saying.. a smart player probably never uses jis coolant flush in a match. i would assume most players will have the awareness to monitor their heat anyhow. think of it like a penalty for overheating.

I can't remember off the top of my head, been quite some time, but in TT there were some seriously dangerous penalties to overheating other than a shutdown most MW games had. I would like to say 2 or 3 had some of those penalties, but I can't remember. The penalties are there, they haven't been seriously used in MW I would like to say.

Honestly instead of coolant flush we need to have coolant trucks stationed around the battlefield as strategic targets and only there can you relieve yourself(get it?). If not then heat needs to dissipate naturally to bring the level down and you need to make choices on what to fire..

"overheating a unit can have many negative affects such as penalties to weapon accuracy, slower movement, or even detonation of any ammunition carried by the Mech."

There is a few limited examples, and I would like to see penalties like this utilized.

I think, honestly, whatever visuals and mechanics are put in the game are going to make the game even across the board, because what you have to deal with in your 'Mech, whether for coolant, or switching weapon groups, or launching a drone, or looking at waypoints on the map on your right-hand console, whether under fire or not, are eventually the problems I'm going to have to deal with, as well. The old phrase what's good for the goose is good for the gander comes to mind.

Flushing coolant to lower the internal heat level, should never interfere visually for the user, it would be devastating for any online game to force the player to a specific view during an engagement, unless it can justified, e.g. zooming will cause a window to pop-up and enhance a specified area (as seen in MW3). Its a simple function and should be kept to that level, having to think when and where you may be able to flush coolant and not being shot at by any hostile is counter intuitive towards an online gaming experience.

BTW I'm curios as to why the title reflects nothing whatsoever of the actual content of the topic? It really does not help discussing the feature wanted.

It's to the point where I'm almost for the inclusion of coolant flushing just so you can stand next to someone else's 'Mech and take a dump on it.

Speaking of coolant flushing, what about ammo dumping? Set up traps and prevent your 'Mech from exploding if someone looks at you funny!
