In the TT I like the mech. I also love his looks.

However, yet another laser spammer in MWO doesn't excite me at all

I said this in another thread. I don't like boats of any flavor the exception being mechs designed for it as indicated by their stock builds and that's where stock supportive quirks come into play.

I'm interested mostly because IS mediums are very ballistic-centric in design. Most IS mediums either have an arm mounted or shoulder mounted ballistic. There are exceptions of course (Hunch 4P, a BJ variant I don't know, St. Ives, etc...), but most are geared around a ballistic hard point.

That is why I feel having another energy medium will be kind of nice. I know the whole laser vomit thing feels played out, but it feels like it is adding a bit more choice in this case.

P.S. Also the crab is a reverse knee joint mech which it very rare for the IS (especially mediums). Other than the Cicada, I don't think there is any other chicken walker mediums available for the IS.

BJ-1X is the only energy medium mech you'll ever need 8 medium lasers going 110kph is the best!

I suppose for the Crab it'll have to mix large and medium lasers since it can't mount as many mediums as the BJ-1X.

I really want the JJ variant and i adore asymmetrical and outright weird looking mechs.
But since i won't buy it for money i'll have to wait for it to come out for C-bills.

You are probably right, but I just don't like the Black Jack. I just can't bring myself to get one.

I just hate how it looks. It looks so darn goofy to me. Yes it is irrational because looks don't translate to effectiveness or performance, I know, I get that. Still, I just can't do it. I feel I am missing out on the Cicada for this same reason.

Anyway, I do have a Hunchback 4P I like, so I do have some medium laser vomit. I still think the IS is light in that category though.

BTW: PGI, Y U No show Wolfhound yet? We have seen all the Resistance 2 mechs in an in game environment, except the Wolfhound....hurry up already

I think it will be the worst 'Mech of the R2 pack. Barely enough hardpoints to be called a "boat", two wasted hardpoints in its CT, bad geometry and the list goes on. The rest will depend on its quirks.

Only one I feel is remotely salvageable is the Mauler.... and it is still less than the Zeus.

Without insane quirks, the Wolfhound will be worse than the Firestarter in every regard (same basic armor and speed and hardpoints, worse hitboxes, especially shoulder, no JJs)

The BLK is worse than the Hopper as predicted (low hardpoint laservomit meets no JJs, DUH)

CRB shows nothing to recommend it over a HBK, CN9 or ENF

Mauler is at least decent (and looks great)

But I knew this going in, lol. Pokemech Syndrome FTW!

There, I said it. Honestly, I like the Zeus, but I'm just having more fun with the Mauler and I'm posting better performance with the Mauler. I know it is preference, but just the way I'm feeling about that comparison.

The BK started out fun, but it's hot and the lack of JJs are adding a bit to the Frustration. It looks so darn awesome though... Sigh.

The Crab is a crap shoot (a long with the Wolfhound). I agree that they will be made or broken by quirks and if the BK is any indication, they might not get what they need.

It almost seems that the weapons quirks for the IS (a while back) caused such a knee jerk reaction from the community (mostly due to the few OP ones), that now PGI is quirk shy. The BK's quirks are bad, and I fear they will carry that onto mechs that could need it.

I guess I'll just sit here and cross my fingers...and toes.

Just dropping by to say that I'm definitely excited about the Crab. It has my favorite design out of all the Inner Sphere mediums so far. I don't think it'll be the most meta mech, but I'll find a way to make it work for me. The builds I want to do on it are pretty close to stock anyways. I'd probably do all mediums and slap in more heat sinks if I cared about how well I did in a match though. Nice to have an inner sphere medium mech that I can be proud to have that doesn't have to rely specificly on gameplay (like the BJ 3, or some jumpjet capable SRM spam mechs).
