I wonder if this game will have VTOLs, VTOLs were insanely OP in TT?
I haven't heard about VTOLs or helicopters being in this, and they were only insanely OP in Dark Ages, not BattleTech tabletop proper.

I got the impression there was some MW4 music.
No, that was Tim Seals music... it's fantastic, and I couldn't stop listening to it on the way to work, or home.

Me, I've been waiting for a game like this since 1987, when I first got my grubby little hands on this:

I don't suppose you have a thousands of pixels by thousands of pixels version of this, do you?

This, and MH: 3055 are what I was PGI to use in MWO for contracting, contacts, strategic and tactical mission planning and execution. It could ALL be done in MWO... these guys at PGI CAN do it, and I hope one day we'll see something akin to all of these things some day.

By the way, I took the plunge and put my money where my mouth is, like I've done for MechWarrior Online. I've put about $280 into MWO, as a very long-time lover of BattleTech, so I thought I would do the same for BattleTech. Besides, the things on offer at that level are fantastic to me... I want that flight jacket!!!

I was a member of MechForce: North America for the first year, when I could afford to pay for the membership through Sword of the Knight Publications, played the very first BattleTech computer game, I played Crescent Hawk's Inception, and played about halfway through Revenge, I played MechWarrior 2, Ghost Bear's Legacy, and Mercenaries, I missed MPBT 3025 and Kesmai's Solaris, hit MechCommander, MC: Desperate Measures, played MechWarrior 3, Pirate's Moon, missed out on AT1:BT and several leagues from the time, stopped playing the tabletop about 1996, when the Clans came into full swing, played MechWarrior 4: Vengeance, Black Knight, and Mercenaries, missed a good portion of Mektek but still played the changes to MechWarrior IV: Mercenaries they did -loving that frackin' Pit Bull... oh man, what a 'Mech-, and I have played MechCommander 2 multiple times, loving it, and I still have all of my CDs. I put into MechWarrior: Tactics, put in a lot to this game, and I've had damn little except the joy of playing come back... but then, apart from the basic purchases of the games, some of which were given to me, I've put very little into the computerized versions of my favorite universe, all of which, thus far, have fallen completely short. MWO might be getting there, but I'd like to be alive to play the final product, thank you.

So, I decided to bite the bullet and put in for this game... I can't wait to see that Davion banner hanging in my room. I'm thinking one awesome bonus in their Kickstarter would be to make it so you can have one of those banner's with your own unit logo pasted on it. You may be the only one that will ever see it, but you will see it. Also, another Kickstarter level I would love to see is making your mercenary unit a canon unit in the BattleTech universe.

I think if they did have a tier where you could get your merc unit in game, it'd be major bucks and probably wouldn't canonize your unit unless it makes it into the Stackpole novels (which wouod be awesome)

In a similar vein, I'd love to see the merc outfits available for the banners and other swag at the 125+ levels...

Solaris was all about arena matches, which were usually one on one, free for all, or small teams.

Nice, that sounds perfect, here's hoping they can do small teams too. More reason to toss money at it if that is what a person is interested in :D

Man, this Kickstarter has got insane momentum. Just waiting for the $1 million mark before I jump in ($275 tier, need me dat jacket), cause a singleplayer campaign is the minimum I'd want. If it hits $1.85 million that would be absolutely fantastic.

As for $2.5 million, I could live without PvP.

Must suck for PGI that this game gets more funding in less than 30 minutes then Trannyverse did in like 16 days.

Good for us though! Go Harebrained Schemes go! I want to see us CRUSH those goals that they won't know what to do with all the money!

MW: O still has total more money then BT...

Not that "who has the bigger c[censored]" is a competition here to begin with. PGI and HBS do not care. They both like each others work and support each other. Which is slightly evident by MW: O's art assets being used on HBS which already makes there wallet much more roomy.

Anyway PGI's mistake with Transverse is not making it a Battletech Dropship/ Warship/ Aerospace fighter game. Becuase a FPS game of that would have been huge and have been much cheaper since assets from MW: O could have been used, besides the fact both were gonna use same engine, same "CW", etc... now it would be same and similar weapons, sounds, etc...

I wish I could have flown a Nigthshade.

Agreed... MechWarrior Online is the ONLY computer game of any kind I play PvP in, period. You can see from my tier I'm not that great at it, but just wait for the new re-balance, hehe, and the completion of the items counted for tiers. Paul did say not everything was going to make it into PSR right away, that they would be tweaking it for some time to come, so I'm waiting for that to happen. At any rate, I bought into the Marauder Collector's Pack plus the Bounty Hunter, and I hate brawling in this only-game-I-PvP-in-EVER, because I'm amazingly bad at it. So, yeah, in BattleTech, give me contracts and missions, and keep the DLCs coming, new chapters, whatever you want to call them, and I'll be extremely happy.

On the other hand, for THIS game, I expect way too much, but I think it can be delivered and, eventually, it will be... THE UNIVERSE!!! :D

Hope it has more money, I mean it's been around for 3 years. And while they may not see it as a contest, I do. I want HBS to eclipse PGI and make MW:O something of a memory. I want Battletech to be wildly successful so people don't have to resort to MW:O and PGI to get their computerized 'mech fix. HBS will do what they're saying in a much quicker and efficient fashion.

They may not have been able to snag the rights, but that's hard to say. Either way, Star Citizen is/was still looming large at that point and they made the bad decision to try to copy and ride the wave.

If the Battletech Kickstarter is wildly successful, you may just yet be able to at least use a Nightshade one day.

I expect a solid game from Battletech that will deliver on what they've touched on so far and maybe a little bit extra if we smash the funding goals. I can see them using some of the funds to put towards the next iteration like they did with Shadowrun so that they can have an even better sequel and keep building from there.

Looking forward to it :)

Forgive me if this has already been asked and I missed it, but is this going to be a browser game? I dont really understand Unity 5 but it sounds a bit like a web browser game engine.

Any clarification would be sincerely appreciated if anyone actually knows.

I have a couple question about this kickstarter: Is it basically a digitized version of the tabletop game, and is there going to be a multiplayer vs AI (pve)?

There's a unity plugin for web browsers but this will be a full blown game, Unity 5 is a pretty decent engine.

It won't be an exact copy of the tabletop but it'll be as best they can get while maintaining a slick and efficiently fun game. There will be single player vs AI or player versus player (PVP if we reach stage 4 backing,) but as of right now no co-op included.

My hope is that last part changes if it gets enough backing.

Waiting for this since Mechforce, soooo happy =D

So true, Mechforce on the Amiga is my all time favorite Mech game. I hope Battletech will eventually expand to company level fights though.

My hope out of this is that it pans out to be extremely successful funding wise, except not on a Star Citizen scale, since we've seen Chris Roberts drive development of that into a snail's pace since he needs to have final say on every single small aspect and obviously can't manage a project or others are too afraid to stand up to him to get the damn thing out the door.

My other hope is that it's successful enough to get Jordan to possibly think about doing a proper MW5 Kickstarter and just license the IP rights from MS. At this rate I think it's the only way we ever see a MW5 get made.

To be fair, the scope of Star Citizen is pretty massive (maybe a bit too big for efficient development,) especially since it'll be a huge 50+ mission single player game in addition to a ridiculously massive universe.

As for MW5, we'll never see it as long as PGI squats on MW:O. Harebrained/Weisman used Battletech so they won't have to deal with Microsoft...and Microsoft is going to give anyone else the rights for a while probably. Keeping away from the Mechwarrior name is probably the best for now especially if Harebrained wants to be able to create games more openly.

No problem! There's a big FAQ on the bottom of the Kickstarter page they'll try to keep updated! And yes, co-op would be the single biggest boon to Battletech if it gets enough funding.

When they originally pitched MW5 they obviously had the blessing of MS. I don't think them securing the license would be that difficult. The publisher funding aspect just wasn't going to happen.
