Hi Guys.

So when the PSR system first came out (replacing ELO) it seemed to work really well to me. Just my perception, I know. The ROFL stomps seemed to be further and farther between. The solo and small group drops seemed to be a little closer more often. Again, just my perception, may not be reality, but because our perception is our reality, I felt the need to get a few things off my chest. Again, being as polite as I can and providing feedback on my experience.

It seems to me that since the teir system has come in, I get into more matches than not where my team gets completely rolled. All night. Maybe a win for every five losses. Seeing that red arrow at the end of a stomp is stressing me out. It's not fun. At all. Anymore. It feels completely out of balance. Maybe it's just me, and I can accept that. But I don't want to come home from a hard day and get stomped all night.

I am a Legendary Founder and have probably forked over more than a grand on various packages. Maybe I really do just suck at the game but I have former unit friends who are playing other games more because thery are also saying they're not having fun.

I don't know if there was something that changed technically after the teir system paired up with PSR but if it did, please fix it. The Maurader Pack is the last cash infusion you're getting from me until I'm having fun again. If the stomps continue then it's time to move on.

I fear that these solo drops are just going to get worse because we need to play as a team, but people don't talk, or are new and simply don't know what's going on. Then I play in the group with my small team (maybe 4 guys) and we get matched up with 10 or 12 man groups and get destroyed because the other 8 guys on my team are playing their own style.

I play this game to have fun at least some of the time. Even a loss if it's close can be fun. Getting stomped all night is not an experience that's going to keep me coming back. Me and my money will find a new game. I'm already looking.

I am a paying customer, not a content player. Every business wants to retain customers. What actions are you willing to take to keep a customer?

I was at the launch event, I know you care. So what's the plan?

If I'm the only one that feels this way, so be it. I think I may not be alone in this.

Thanks for listening.

Clearly its difficult to define a "good" player by mechanics.

The current tier system is based mainly on historical stats and only to a lesser extend on actual player performance under the tier system. This will offcourse change as time goes by but the matching system will currently match players according to tiers they wouldnt necessarily have achieved if they started from scratch.

I think the main problem is low population and diccifulty truly defining a good player.

One solution that would lessen the effect is to change the game modes. The game mechanics and maps mainly favors everybody grouping up.

The feature suggestion forum already has ideas on game modes where 12 vs 12 engagements would have potential better tactics by splitting up in lances.

I think we would find that localized 4vs4 scenarios on maps would have less loopsided results.

The new player skill rating system is a huge step in the right direction. In fact it can only be argued that the numbers could possibly be changed slightly to improve it at all. Which I am sure they will in fact do.

The ELO was entirely win/loss based and put low ELO with high ELO to average out and make teams. This new PSR puts equal PSR to make teams. Really a huge improvement. This helps newbies to play against equal skill players and experienced players alike. When a newbie becomes experienced then he moves up.

Also the new PSR is player based as opposed to chassis based. Another improvement.

This is as I understand it. Arguements can be made for the old system in all areas but are less than practical. Although the idea a newbie can learn "faster/better" teamed with vets is entirely true in an apprenticeship sort of way, is it fun for the newbie, is it practical in an entertainment setting forcing the issue, etc.

On top of the new PSR, other improvements that could be made:

- Its a possibility 2 man groups may be allowed into the solo queue. That may improve alot of players experience, but hurts the group queue.

- Balance is being worked on and will improve match quality over all.

- Improvements to the off the field game play is needed for "down time" between matches. No word on any improvemnts to this.... The home screen improvements lately was a small step only.

- Improvements to the maps will add alot to the quality of matches. Most of the maps in game are quite literally half done... Making for lower quality game play. This is on the way for sure.

- 4 v 4 will add an entirely different element to matches and also the Galaxy map logistics which hasnt even been added yet, but will also improve match and game quality.

So, PSR wont "fix" the game but its a great step to improving it.

I can count maybe 10 things the guys and girls making this game are working at the moment. All completely new additions. Then there is things like this PSR that no one I am aware of knew about, including myself.....

It is a guess but between now and the end of the year and going into the new year this game should improve by huge amounts. Enough? Who knows. :)

The only unannounced thing I am almost completely sure they will add is some sort of content for high end c-bill/credits purchase. I am not sure how that will come about or in what way, buts its almost a given. Save those creds.

I am at the cusp of T3. And every time I spill over, I go from 'hey I'm having a lot of fun' to 'apparently I'm the only mother f***** on this map to shoot'. 300-500 damage to the 70-200 in assaults. It probably doesn't help that I prefer to play as a brawler, which as a pug seems to equate to suicide any more... I don't remember the last kill I've gotten.

I thought before that maybe I was just having a bad night, but it has happened every. Single. Time. To the point where I relish getting knocked down so I can have fun again for 4-5 matches, or however many wins it takes to move back up.

I've adapted some by incorporating PPC's and guass , but its still a hard fight to do anything I consider useful (if I don't get a kill or break 300+ damage in an assault, I didn't do my job) on a routine basis.

Overall, I'd say good for the community as a whole - again, much fewer matches end 1 v 12 - but I'm personally in a world of hurt with it. Just got to figure out what I'm doing wrong and move on.

*edit*

As a side note, I'd loooooove to have a way to que for smaller matches again. Part of why I'm having such trouble as a brawler is because whenever you get to close on (or are closed upon by) the enemy, its usually a rout. A smaller map, with fewer players, would let me shake the dust off a few favorite chassis of mine... like my poor founder Atlas.

PSR was a move in the right direction. Ive seen probably less stomps on average.

In saying that living in T2 isn't easy. If you dont bring your best mechs or if you are skilling out new mechs it is going to be rough.

A lot of people in these upper teirs only bring their best mechs to the party.

With better players making the bulk of the matches you will find that the Experience points and Cbill earnings will drop as the team does more average damage per player and has less stand outs.

For me I find that the matches are usually closer but the earnings have dropped on average.

Yes.

Group Q is being worked on... Kinda. Read here if you haven't. Russ was being involved with some discussion for tonnage based group games

it works really good for some players, and then casts other players into a fiery pit of human excrement, very large spiders, and my little pony cartoons.

it wont fix rollages, bad teams, wont put you against players of your own skill level, or fix anything that was broke with elo. there is one thing thats different, there is no positive side to the swing.

Maybe we need ranked and not ranked system. So if u have a new mech and need to level it u can play without ranking so you will not drag down your whole team.

We NEED elo back because atm there is no fair matchmaking of people with same skill in one match.

It is NO FUN AT ALL for new players if u invite them to play in group but u get ranked vs good players because u have a high tier level.

Maybe we need a help a new friend group system where veterans can join a group but may only use trial mechs so the impact in a game with new players isnt to high.

We do not need elo back. Ever. ELO had nothing at all to do with matching player skill. It ranked match win/loss which tended to average people out over time toward 1.0 meaning you had essentially T5's and T1's mixing it up in the PUG queue, resulting in frequent stomps.

you don't really understand how elo works do you?

do you think that high elo players in, say, the league of legends, have a way better winrate than low elo ones? not at all!
they usually have it positive though, but even that is not always the case, you can be high elo and have a negative winrate, though it's rare (and also probably means you are losing elo)

the raw winrate means nearly to nothing, its dynamic has some meaning though, it increases when you move up and then staggers when you reach your new ceiling

elo it's rating which is based on with whom you played and vs whom, people get/lose different amount of elo for winning/losing vs a weaker team or a stronger team

also elo should be separated by soloq and group queue, but that's a different matter

then, you again (again!) mix elo and matchmaking. matchmaking it's a way to apply elo or psr or w/e to find matches, you can have a tiered mm with elo just as well as with psr

anyway i agree that pgi's implementation of elo seemed poor (i bet mostly because they didn't separate the group queue elo from soloq elo)
