Is it too much to ask PGI to splay the legs out ever so slightly so it doesn't look so utterly rigid?
Well I guess they are perspective drawings so they have to be easy to reference from when modelling. I'd say the issue with PGI's mechs being incredibly stiff lays squarely with the animator. I really don't think that guy/girl is very good with animating bird legged 'mechs, or at least hasn't ever seen how reverse jointed 'mechs from previous MW games have looked.
I predict the Marauder will look great but will ultimately be let down by a very stiff animation.

I mean, yeah, an ortho would be straight, but we know from experience that they are also straight in-game every single time. The Shadow Cat, for instance, looks so stiff in-game but its art is amazing. And yeah, the animations certainly do not help.
It also doesn't help that "reverse jointed legs" aren't even a thing animals have. All these 'Mechs with "reverse joints" should have been fixed up with proper digitigrade stance.

Might been done by a different animator/animators, being one of the oldest 'Mechs in the game. From what I understand, the staff at PGI has seen some...changes...since MWO started.

Luckily, LOOKS easy to hit and IS easy to hit are two different things in MWO. Like every bit of speculation, we won't really know till we can play it.

If this plays like a stalker, I might have to get it...
The STK was effectively my first "proper" playing mech - after I made the mistake of spending my cadet bonus on an Orion, then not having enough time to play and earn my way out of that P.O.S... Any money I did earn, I spent changing it in the vain hope that it would somehow work...
I then got an Oxide and Misery with MCs and used the Oxide as a "training" mech to relearn how to play. Giant walking CT teaches you really fast that you need to keep moving, stay out of sight, and to hit and fade.
So when I moved to mastering Stalkers, I knew what I was doing (and was able to earn CBills consistently), so its my first mech with a positive K/D ratio.
The Orion should not be purchasable for anyone with less than 500 games under their belt. I almost gave up MWO because of it... It should be end of game content for the people who wish to brag that they can perform with a big Handicap... I'm never touching one again.
