I'm scared that people actually play this game to move up the tier, not because they are having fun. I played CS since 1.3 patch..which is like 15 years ago. I still do because it is fun. I play MWO because I think it is fun. If your goal is simply yo collect them all and win the tier 1 ribbon.. I imagine life wouldn't be very fun (especially because you don't have Brock and Misty with you the whole way).

I really have no idea what you're driving at then. So back on it goes, solely to annoy you, Mystere.

Annoyed? I predicted you would bring it back on.

I am merely doing what I said I was going to do once tiers are visible. Don't blame me for being a man of my word.

I'm gonna display my tier first thing after the patch. If it is high, I will flaunt it around. If it is low, I will make it high. B)

Oh, and about how PSR is just an XP bar... I am predicting that many of the T3-5 players posting in this thread will not reach T1 even after a year from now. One actually has to become better at this game to advance to higher tiers.

I'm having fun from facing better opponents and actually having competent teammates. ;)

Ever since PSR was implemented, the matches became more even, and I am no longer the highest scoring guy automatically from my team, and that is just what I wanted.

To have to maintain a level W/L ratio to advance. You will end up playing against more experienced players as your PSR bar rises because they have more PSR points. It's a system of accumulated points, and as Paul said, left to our own devices most everyone will get to Tier 1 as they accumulate points.

Level WLR is fine. If one can maintain 50/50 even in T1, then he should be playing there.

Knowing my tier has given me an actual goal in MWO for first time in three years.

Exactly...something other than useless Cbills and XP. It's kinda sad this is what we can work on rather than a real pilot skill tree, or something real for CW. But, it's true, this is the only thing to "level" up like in other MMO's.

Why do you need "a goal"? Don't you enjoy playing the game?

Weird.

Some people have fun from setting and achieving goals.

As Bandito said, I don't want to drop and almost know that I'm going to be one of the higher scoring players on the team.

I want matches where I load in and notice some dangerous players on the enemy team and then notice some other good players on my own team.

I know I'm in for a good, intense match.

That has been happening more for me in the solo queue since PSR has been implemented than it was previously with Elo.

That first weekend challenge based on match scores was amazing, most of my matches saw the kind of damage spreads you rarely see in the solo queue - with 12 players in the 300-500 damage area and kills spread around evenly.

That's what I like about PSR, it's not perfect by any means. I think the system needs a lot of tweaks and adjustments.

Then I made an alt account, and dropped as a T4 player in a Trial TDR-9SE without any modules, no basic skills - a mech that lacked full optimization with some pretty derpy choices on armor allocation.

It was silly, I was in the top 3 score for my matches (which is sad, because I was only doing about 600 or so on good matches) - I recognized very few players, and spectated some truly facepalm worth builds and activity.

I made a thread that demonstrates how we don't know if PSR is an XP bar or not.

I tend to agree with you. If it were an XP bar then people like Bishop Steiner wouldn't be T3.

PSR is mostly definitely partly an XP bar, in the sense that you need a lot of matches in order to get to T1. If you won 100 matches and got 600+ match score for all 100 matches in row you still wouldn't be in T1.
