It will probably be a more fragile dragon, but it looks so cool! At least you can be a really fast medium with a 325/350 engine, and it looks like it will be small for a 50-tonner.

What I am really curious about is the hit boxes. If its like the Stalker, it will be very XL un-friendly, however, that's fine, because even with STD Engines it can carry the biggest one allowed with out to much of an issue, which means it will be fast, and like the Stalker, be able to face tank like Rocky Balboa.

No matter what happens, I am thrilled we are getting the Crab, it was my number 1 favorite Medium mech for the longest time before the Uziel came out.

These are my top three favorite mechs right here.

Am I the only one who compares this to a HBK-4P?

I have read several Crab threads, and I seem to be the only person who mentions the 4P...

Crab will have a sleeker profile, but lower weapon mounts. Crab will have a higher allowed top-speed and they will have near-equal armor (I think the HBK gets shoulder health quirks), but the Hunchback can mount more total Lasers (SL spameriffic).

The Hunchback may end up being the better hill poker with the crab being a better Light killer and distance-closer for supporting units that need reinforcements.

As with nearly all Gundams, it will boil down to hitboxes.

Even if it has godlike hitboxes, it will carry meager weaponry and/or be quite hot if it's STD engined, and there's nothing stopping you from simply shooting off its legs (though I will admit not everyone focuses legs against mediums).

At best it'll be 'ok', but it's a stretch to imagine it being 'good'.

It's definitely cool as **** though.

Nope.
I also wrote about this around in the forum, and that's why I'm pretty happy to pilot the Crab.

Maybe. Depends on hitboxes, might tank a bit head-on with some twist. Might be vulnerable on the sides.

Jenner and HBK IIC may break into new meta.(Upgrades+unlocked engine)

Reward Cicada might appeal to us select few in the Cicada Master Race(is OP plz nerf), Reward Nova is more a reward 'pod'.

I think Crab may be solidly 'meh'.

It appeals because it has a novel look

if it has good ml range and heat quirks it might even be a good mech

if it don't well I don't really care as long as I have fun with it

The Mech is smaller than a Cicada from allmost any angle - it will work well if the Hitboxes are not intentionally borked.

It's a 50 ton mech, it won't have quirks as good as the Cicada's, no way

It will have your standard 10% energy duration reduction and 10% increased acceleration/deceleration quirks.

Its not competing with the cicada, its competing with the enforcer, trebuchet, and centurion, and if its that small, with hardpoints like that, it might well be better than both.

how many times has a Mech been decreed DOA before release only to later be complained about as overpowered, or at the very least far from useless.
here area few from memory
Spider (not enough weapons, but it turned out to be so hard to hit that people complained)
Shadow Hawk (not enough hardpoints, then it turned out to be a great Mech for the poptart meta)
Thunderbolt (not good on first release but now concidered the best IS heavy)
Timber Wolf (was going to be useless because all its E and B hardpoints are low mounted)
