Favorite: Orion.
Let's face it, the Orion is a pretty goofy mech in the TROs. The concept art for it, however, managed to make the thing look menacing while still retaining that "ugly as sin" quality that is so quintessentially Orion. Plus, it's one of the few humanoids that looks like it could be a legitimate war machine . . . to an extent at least.
Least Favorite: Battlemaster.
As already stated, the Battlemaster art just looks generic. I know there were in game considerations for why it couldn't have its iconic giant bulbous head, but, on top of that, it just looks like a bunch of blocks piled on other blocks. It retains essentially 0 of the original mech's charm and just looks like a nondescript barn-door mech.

Just absolute visual bliss that cannot be properly described
Ugliest Redesign:

Too flat and lanky for me. Eugh.

Best one hard to chose, so going to pick several as I'm expressing opinion and not having to pick a competition winer.
From original TRO art to Alex's concept being better, Jager Mech, gone is one of the most dull designers of any mech, into something that made me think wow that's good, and bent the IP rules as we thought at the time, to also give it a more rifleman look, as it was supposed to be its replacement, even before unseen.
Quick Draw yes I mean it, and no I don't need to take my meds, the T.R.O art was truly awful, Alex made it look half good, while making it look somewhat like a Q.D. the 3D modellers, did it no favours.
The Cataphract again art that sucked big time, and was the second post unseen TRO mech I actually liked, and Alex made it look great, sure people don't like it now, in hill poking alpha warrior online, where the clan XL is king of the heap, but its a great looking mech and the 3D modellers got in bang on.
There are a lot of others that just fall short of the top list but now unto the dross. or the Alex must have been drunk what was he thinking mechs
I know what some of you think must be top of my personal list, but your wrong.
The most truly awful goes to the Trebuchet this mech that should look a bit like a Comando on steroids, looks like a piece of toast with arms and legs, in the TRO, though its not close, to being my favourite medium, should look a real classy mech, and it looks like something the fat lady sat on, and the 3D modelers managed to make it look even worse..even the art team from mech warrior tactic's did better conceptual artwork, this is the only time they managed this thank god.
Now comes the one most people that have bothered to take notice of my opinion on mech design thought would be first
The Battle Master, this was an O.M.G what were you smoking when you thought this was a good representation of a real classic mech I know there have been since the unseen some really crappy rehashes of the Battle Master, but all the others you could look at them and go, that's a Thunderbolt that's a Griffin that is a Locust, if I hadn't seen the name next to it, I would have gone WHAT the Freaking hell is that...its like Alex took all the crappy fan art and took the worse bits from each.
Have to say that the thought of this being reproduced by hairbrained schemes is one of my nope not getting on the kickstarter reasons, I want to see artwork on their web site of what they are going to make one of my top ten favourite mechs look like how it should be, a griffin that works out.
The third is kind of hard, and maybe as Bish mentioned the Kint could be it, but again I am going to let personal passion for a mech take the third spot, though looking at it, from a neutral point of view, it probably isn't the third spot.
The Victor, in honesty the art work for the most part, isn't that bad, and my initial reaction was OMFG a Victor in the GAME, happy dance, the TRO art didn't have to deal with things like arms clipping as they moved nor did the old ral partha model, in Alex's art work I felt the shoulder spread was to far, waist was to skinny, but neither of these two things were what made my yippy moment fade somewhat, it was the head..the neck shield is a shield, it should not be joined to the shoulders, the head on the mech clearly turns, while a turning head is totally unreasonable lip service should have been paid to it.
Then the 3D department went took the bad things about the art and made them worse, far worse, I consoled myself with the fact I was piloting a real 'live' pixel Victor, and I couldn't see the bad bits from the cockpit, which credit where credit is due, the designer that did the cockpit did a real bang up A plus job.

I got so many spleen's in my collection. Which one should i vent? The old rotten ones i aquirred back during Founders beta perhaps?
They could use a bit of venting since they smell awfull nowadays.
So far i like the KFX the most. Not only is it a beast but i love those asymmetrical arms.
Yup....i said it's a beast and i'm not kidding either.

Takes 8LPL to get to the center of a Kitfox, 6 in his back and 2 in the front.
I was to close for convergence or it prolly would have been 4-5.
He was sniping from where he thought a 90t couldn't sneak up on him.

My favorite concept art is the special geo Crab. The Crab is my favorite TT medium, but I was going to wait for the c-bill release anyway until the special geo concept art was released.
Least favorite in game model is a little tricky. Maybe the Enforcer? The head looks weird and huge with this massive forehead, compared to the concept art.

the fact the Kintaro HAS and upper lip to stiffen just furthers my argument about it's hideousness. Not to mention a Dervish would have been a better mech.
Say no to Robochimps!

I don't know if I really have a favorite anymore, between weapons size normalization and dynamic hardpoints, the MWO aesthetic has really taken a beating. Before that, the CPLT-K2 was by far the best looking mech in the game. Now, maybe the King Crab, as it is able to lampshade the issue with its claws.
Some of the mechs I take special exception to are the Mad-Cat and Mauler. These are two mechs with iconic silhouettes, but PGI opted to make those iconic features removable?!?. In lore, the Mad-Cat got its name because IIF computers could not identify it as a Marauder or Catapult, yet the iconic missile racks are rarely seen on the chassis. And the Mauler is defined by "towers of power" on the upper torso; again all but absent on the battlefield.
In my opinion, this game made a strong attempt to unify the art direction for the shared Mechwarrior/Battletech universe through concept art, but then failed on in-game execution.
