First don't be alarmed. This is not a hate post. This is a love post. Although it does have a 'but'.

A 'but love' post if you will. B)

So firstly, LOVE the anniversary rewards! Free stuff is always awesome and this year is a particularly awesome bunch of free stuff. :D

but

Why the ZEU-9S2 and not the ZEU-6Y. I mean BINARY LASER!! The exclusivity of the give away would even have fit in with its 'prototype' status.

I mean yeah.... free Zeus put a smile on my face. But the 6Y would of given me an 80 tonne assault mechrection.

Maybe another day. Hopefully before I get too old.

eh... we'll get binary lasers when clans get heavy lasers. Only possible way to get IS something remotely comparable.

we already have better-than-heavy lasers. when you fire two CERMLs and they both hit the same location, thats the same advantage a heavy medium laser gets... except with MUCH more range.

The only advantage to a heavy laser is that it would use 1 energy hardpoint instead of 2 energy hardpoints. But its not like theres a shortage of energy hardpoints anyway so thats not really an advantage at all. Especially when you factor in the reduced range.

The point is because we already have convergence for regular lasers it makes heavy lasers and binary lasers completely obsolete weapons.

Convergence is still #1 balance problem for weapons and PGI has done absolutely nothing to fix it in 3 years.

Binary laser wouldn't be obsolete, there are lots of IS mechs with only one or two good E mounts that could profit from Blazers.

my question is.. can we sell them? i would rather have the total c-bill worth of the IS variants than the IS variants.

What kind of sick man sells off unique versions of IS mechs?!
Clan mechs, i could understand, because they're hideous, but IS?!

IS mechs are underpowered.. the top tier 1's are all clan. why would you gimp your team by fielding trash? (IS)

You do realize that the Cicada will have the jumping capabilities of the Spider 5V right? It will be so much fun!

Actually, i believe it will have BETTER jumping capabilities, because currently medium mechs have better jump jets than the lights, as far as i recall.

Edit: Correction. It will have better jumping capabilities than the 5D. 5V has 12 jump jets, so i think it's still the best aircraft in the game (even though, it's probably the worst mech).

Everyone keeps saying this, but any optimized build will still have no more than 2JJ.

I'd love one for my shadowhawk 2H, the one with only a single energy hardpoint. Also, maybe the Zeus 6T just because I find that single arm energy hardpoint awkward sometimes, it doesn't sync well with the torso energy points so I like tossing a powerful energy weapon in it, might be fun to try that instead of a PPC if they ever put the blazers in.

I've pestered Russ quite a bit about Blazers on Twitter, he never responds :D

Its too bad too, just having a weapon unique to the IS would be pretty sweet.

Not to mention, Shoulder sniping Zeus :D

Yeah I don't ever expect to get them really. Not a common weapon in the first place, probably just make the overall balancing act more difficult, and only a couple chassis where it would really shine. Still I would love to see it for those few chassis where you stare at a single energy hardpoint and know that a single LL just isn't enough firepower.
