Ferro-fibrous is worse because it's meant to be the lowest return on your critspacing, because they wanted the returns for using up lots of critspace (that is, stacking them) to not surpass a certain point. Thus, endo first, ferro last.

It does not translate well to an mmo video game, when the functionality of a simple feature needs to be explained to new players that is evidence that it is not well designed. Simple things like that can turn new players off the game quickly.

Yes, there's designs where you need every crit space you can get.

Fringe builds basically. So because a few odd builds use a certain specific setups we have to leave archaic systems in place? And if FF was reworked to not be (as) crit dependant, would not those set ups still work?

Personal thoughts on it for me is
Chassis is like the Frame of your Car or Truck, Real world Case and Point the New Ford Aluminum F series Truck. And the Retrofit that Aluminum on a Older model and it still be the same truck?
I personally think if a Mech Came with Endo Steel it the Bone Structure/Frame of the Mech with all the hard point set as is.

Now for Ferro-Armor (and in the future many more types of armor to come) is the Outer Panels of the Truck much easier to replace and Repair. So all mech could get access to this due to the fact it the Skin of the Mech not the Core Structure everything else in build on.

Again this is just my Personal thought on it.
