Just spectated a Stromcrow player in my team. His FPS must have been 2-3, cause things were warping all the time and he could not hit anything. Why the eff are people playing MWO on toasters and screwing over their teammates? Go play MW4 or something if one needs his MW fix.
I personally waited months after the CB opening, just so I could buy a good rig to play MWO.

This is back when Atlas and Stalkers were considered the biggest hitters. Add to the fact that it was 8v8, and pulse lasers sucked balls, and there were no weapon quirks, the TTK was naturally higher.

And no HSR.

Let's bring back 2012, when I used to have 8+ KDR from farming noobs in trial mechs, and running a 8-man premade against solo players. Not.

That was the ugly part about CB - indeed

The time when XLs and DHSs were introduced was the most imbalanced moment in MWO history. Optimised XL300 Hunchbacks ripping the trial SHS mechs to shreds. 8xAtlas premades (STD350 AC20 3xSRM6 Kong Style).

https://youtu.be/hh_K6rT477I
The thing is, this video was from the perspective of the trial mech - noob victim. One hour of play and not a single win. Average damage under 100 and barely any kills. No XP gained.

XL were in game when i started: August 12.... the game was balanced around them - more weapons or speed but less survivability.
Fore some mechs XL was a good option: Awesome, Catapult (i did always aim for the head)
For others not - > Centurion with its bugged hitboxes
The engine cap and the replacement of tackling - must have happen at the same time - my AL hunter killer ceased to exist.
Lights start to rule.
Things got worse with ES and DHS - and finaly the disabling of RnR and the introduction of the Jesus Box.

But the final degeneration of TTK happened with HSR.

That's a fantastic quote. Did you paraphrase Nir Hod, or did you come up with that now?

That's a more or less common german saying, based on a quote by Karl Valentin, a german comedian from last century.
Back in school I wrote an essay about him and that quote stuck with me I guess.

I have no idea who nir hod is.

Im wondering this.

Hero mechs, are always in HIGH+ textures, while regular camos could be lower. Why ?

Shame on all of you for not having mentioned it yet: Did you see those friggin CANNONS on the K2? Worst nerf to any mech in the game. Ever.

K2 with dual-PPCs, but with neither DHS nor HSR. Fun times.

When I think back to Closed Beta, a tear wells up in my eye. It was glorious, but you could see the power creep at that stage, though. Well, when I say 'you', I mean the players with some forethought who could predict what the players would gravitate towards, coupled with the fact that PGI seemed determined to give them the necessary tools to accomplish it.

You should have seen the Closed Beta forums back then and the posts the testers would make trying to help PGI avoid the coming metas... all of which came to pass, I might add.

It was like standing by helplessly as your sister married the town fool.

I'd be fine with that.
(especially if clanners have to spend much more cash to keep their filthy mechs running)

I remember those early days. The difference between now and then just on the forums was HUGE. I feel like the collective intelligence of the posters back then was at least 1000 fold what it is now. It was like a team of a highly efficient scientists having a bit of fun now and then but doing serious forum business most of the time.

Which trial mechs? Those didn't exist back then.

TTK is high when you drive a stock mech and can't aim. ;)
