Sorry but that video doesn't look "better" at all.

I just saw this video from october 2012, i dont know maybe its just me, but old graphics seems to be much better in some circumstances, also animations (eg. look at Atlas animations when he is hitted hard). What was happened ???

Ok imo MWO in 2015 have much more polished mech textures, better rocket flight path but this is only my opinion.

F2P games are based on population size. You cannot have a sustainable F2P with graphics that require a $300+ video card.

That's what I wanted to played and enjoyed the hell out of it. These days I am barely on any more but if there was one CB video that was so epic it was this one Bring it back to its old days and I will probably come back to play more often. Till then to mechwarrior living legends I go!

If any thing return the graphics in the ultra graphics switch

Sound effects a utter must. The newer sounds just lack any sense of feeling.

Cork screw missiles

Slower paced combat.

Rofl that looks so bad.

Are you kidding me people? Look at the centurion? The shaders they have for damage are absolutely better than the previous crap. Those SRMS look like ****. Those lasers sound straight out of a 60's sci fi movie. Not to mention that centurion looked bland as **** in that white shade of color. Lets not even get into the fact that these people are playing terribly. Zero torso twisting ftw.

The awesome is literally playing babies first shooter and is not in any way threatened for simply walking out in the open and dismantling two terrible mechs.

You people have no idea what you're talking about.

Shame on all of you for not having mentioned it yet: Did you see those friggin CANNONS on the K2? Worst nerf to any mech in the game. Ever.

K2 with dual-PPCs, but with neither DHS nor HSR. Fun times.

Also the dual Gauss build with the gauss rifles being the size of machine guns lol

Ok well thats opinion but by judging what most are saying it seems CB was indeed the better time in most regards. But like I said I virtually stopped playing cause the game lacks so much. My best times were those times.

Run that video, and a video I made recently side by side. Don't look at it from a graphical standpoint mostly because my videos 480p and green most of the time. Look at it from a gameplay standpoint.

When you compare both of these videos in terms of gameplay, it feels like that first video is in slow motion.

Also (despite that video turning into a stomp) notice how many of my enemies twist and move quickly to protect themselves. Notice how I strive to protect myself from their weapons by twisting.

The gameplay wasn't better in close beta, people just ran crap mechs and played badly. The current game play was inevitable as bad players became better.

For some people getting better at a game isn't a bad thing, for this community so many people strive to constrain the "meta" because they want to run unoptimized slow builds and get away with it even though common sense tells you that they are bad builds.

Stompy robots havent changed much, people have just gotten smarter and faster and thats the natural progression. This is a GOOD thing, I'm sorry if some of you have trouble keeping up.

The game was 100% more fun back then, we had some epic brawls since mechs didn't fall over after taking 2 alphas like they do now, this made a huge difference since it meant the build of your mech and it's heat management mattered a lot more.

Not like it is now where people just cram as many weapons into their build as possible, and are only interested in how many times they can alpha you with override engaged before they blow themselves up.

A bad playing a bad artificially increases time to kill.

A good playing a bad decreases time to kill.

A good playing a good increases time to kill.

Getting ambushed decreases time to kill.

There's nothing wrong with walking out into the open and getting curbstomped for it.

Look at the video, watch and listen and tell me I'm attempting to alpha as hard as possible.

My build is a brawling knife fighter with every intention of getting down and dirty. You want to tell me I'm not brawling? I do a lot of damage, and yes my kills tend to get picked off by people with larger more accurate alphas than me, but who the hell cares? If you want to brawl you can brawl, but that doesn't mean you have to play stupid and slow just because thats what you could get away with back in CB.

Well to be honest from my prospective the mechs are moving way to fast, While some of the current sounds are better there were many more in CB that still best it. Impacts , missiles and Gauss are a example of the better sounds. Im not sure if you played much of CB. But Mechwarrior should be more about slow moving heavy machines of war. Im stuck in Tier 1 in MWO and I hate every moment of it. My Atlas is horridly out performed by even a light mech that takes far to much damage then it should. For me and me only CB was better. The HD texture resolutions for a start , knock down, cheesy weapon sounds , the higher TTK and give that vid I did share was from a new pilot one vid does not prove that pilots played badly it was a single vid of a game, But things like the popcorn ammo explosion , unique damage textures where you can see the laser scrape away armor , cork screw missiles , burning debris on the ground, What we have now is very far from the mech game we longed for. ECM does not work as it should, We have mechs moving far to fast, Its just becoming far to twitchy, Probably the single worst idea was not restricting the mech lab in some way its to late for that now but its thrown a horrid problem that possibly will never be solved. Cause as soon as you attempt any nerf or buff people can now just switch on the fly. If you enjoy the game now thats cool I got no problem but for myself. But going from this to this. Posted Image Killed it for me.

it's not only clan weaps and quirks; it is also the modules.

if you take the quirks + modules away, then inner sphere mechs can shoot pretty much like what you see in those videos from 2012-2013

And what's the reason we have those 50% quirks?
Oh right.
The clans.

no broken clan weapons, no broken 12v12, no broken quirks/modules... so yeah TTK was much longer.

Shove off the rose-tinted nostalgia goggles, please. TTK was much longer because hit registration was abysmal.

It's still far far better than what we used to have. Back then, "lag shield" simply meant that you couldnt hit a light mech, EVER, without using streaks.
