Charger

80 Tons
86.4KPH
5 Small Lasers

Wat.

PGI pls. You gave us the Urban Mech, now do more fan service and give us this 80 tonner with nothing but 5 small lasers. It's classified as an assault class scout mech lol.

Oh what you can find in the dark corners of Sarna.....

Charger is gonna be actually better than the Awesome in MWO. 400 max engine rating + 5 energy points and much better shield arms. Awesome's 300 rating engine always felt slow to me. The CGR-1A9 even has JJs and since it is 80 ton mech the JJs will cost only 1 ton each. I doubt PGI can out-fat the Awesome when designing the Charger.

There's quite a few useable variants of it, but yeah the original concept of an 80 ton scout wasn't the brightest idea in the world. I personally would use it to punch or kick everything to death, but we don't have melee combat.
It needs an XL engine and a supercharger, that would let it run 108 KPH in bursts with about 24 tons of weapons, heat sinks and/or ammo, assuming PGI wouldn't pre-nerf the supercharger like they did MASC.

AND it makes the Gargoyle look almost OP  .

Jokes aside: The XL Variant (CGR-3K) is ... somewhat ... uhm ... okay.
I had the it in my TT Mech Cards ages ago and was quite impressed by the difference back then.

Anyway. IS-Gargoyle. Very funny.

Its a ''Charger''. On TT it had speed of 5-8 if I remember well. Rules for charging were something like ''Speed X tonnage = a bunch of damages'' So yeah it was only meant to crush people with his mass. Since there are no real colision damages in MWO it wouldnt of much use..

An 80 ton mech with a high engine cap and at least 5 energy hardpoints would be good in MWO.

I fully expect to see it released at some future point when they run out of more popular mechs to sell.

The 5 small lasers are more for infantry and light mech cleaning duties.

I'll see how underpowered you'd think a mech like this is when it brings its shoulder forwards and rams itself into your mech at 80+kph, tearing your mech in two before you figure out where the eject lever is.

I can bet you that PGI would inflate the hardpoints to 7, so that would further replace the AWS (although it's been obsolete since forever anyways...).

You know, inconsistent BT-rules aside: With an armor technology that can withstand tons of intense punishment from lasers, missiles, gauss and ACs (GIANT thermal and/or kinetic energy at tiny spots there), a Mech ramming (or boxing or kicking or melee weapons and all that from TT rules) would make absolutely NO damage at all. The kinetic energy and hit area are just ridiculously weak compared to that of weapon fire.

Sad but true: most Sci-Fi authors (in include the BT creators in that) don't have the slightest idea about science or even physics. They just write romanticised naive stuff of how they in their childish mind picture science and physics to be.
It doesn't have to be perfectly accurate, but a SLIGHT talent for consistency common sense can be demanded.

But we just got a loyalty wolverine that makes the awesome look like a top tier mech, isn't that enough?

At the scales we're talking about the tyranny of the square/cube law is firmly in effect. Thanks to p = m*v any sort of conventional weapons fire would be ridiculously weak compared to the kinetic energy involved.

Sir Issac Newton is the deadliest SOB in space for a reason.

Actually, a fast 80 tonner with JJs and laser vomit hardpoints wouldn't be that bad. Would more or less obsolete the Black Knight though. :(

Charger would wreck face in mwo. Quad LPL Xl400 @90kph. Imagine an IS blitzkrieg team that DIDNT have to wait for plodding assaults?

that would really be painful, a lance of Chargers with 16 large pulse lasers melting everything in sight!

Funniest thing about this mech is that it carried one of the small lasers as a pistol. xD
