Press U to cycle friendly targets

Thats so inefficient though to find a particular teammate.

Again it would be better and faster to just have an overlay that pops up and shows the status of all your teammates at once.

Yeah its not the greatest mockup but it gets the idea across...

I agree. Pressing "U" should target the friendly under your reticle.

At the very least there should be a team status overlay screen, like the map screen, that shows a 3x4 grid with ragdolls and loadouts for all 12 mechs on your team. you should be able to instantly see the status of everyone on your team at the same time.

Why not make this part of the map screen?

if theres enough space on the map screen you could. im not sure if there is or not.

what if the friendly you wanna check on isnt in your field of view? you shouldnt have to spin around searching for them just to check their status. especially if youre fighting enemy mechs and just want to quickly check the rest of your team.

Again a team status overlay is the way to go.

Maybe you deserve to get raged at a little bit if you are bringing absolutely trash builds and helping your team lose? If you bring a DWF with 10 flamers as your entire armament, maybe your team has a legitimate reason to be unhappy with you.

If all flamers is someone's fun thing, then they have the right to go all flamers. We have no right whatsoever to keep them from having fun, or to b!tch them out for having the all-flamer loadout. PUG queue is for fun drops.

If you are so concerned about your teammates' loadouts that a non-optimal loadout makes you mad or offends you, perhaps you should drop competitively in a 12-man and leave the PUG queue,

Again, this is a good reason why friendly loadouts should not be shown.

You can still see their dorito through terrain. I'm not saying we shouldn't have a team status overlay but why not have both? I'd argue that you can probably provide less information in a team status overlay (damage ragdoll only) but should be able to view weapons loadouts when targeting a friendly.

If you move the Commands tab (currently in the bottem left of the battlegrid screen) to the bar along the bottom then the entire left side is free (the upper left tab is player names and chassis).

itd be better to see the loadouts on the team overlay so you can evaluate your whole team at once.

yeah that could work.

I mean that would be ideal to see all your whole teams damage/loadouts, plus the map, and the command tabs all on the same overlay.

There should also be a drawing feature so the commander can draw attack plans on the map that appear on everyones minimap. mostly wed just draw d*cks and boobs. But even that would massively improve the game.

Great idea. My concern is how much it would depress me. That moment when you look at your teammate and realize his Centurion has 2xmgs, lrm10, lrm5 and srm2.

Generally I don't come to that realization until I'm already dead and spectating his inability to kill someone in a Adder with 3pv up and who is clearly playing with a joystick.

Having to see that early in the game may cause more disconnects when you don't have the comforting Illusion of your team not being scrubtacular.

But if you saw this before you died you would know not to brawl with him around because you would probably receive insufficient backup.

This. People are selfish and will protect their stats with any method available to them.

So we should not implement changes that will better the game because of the small minority who MIGHT abuse it. Those same people are probably going to disconnect for some other reason anyway.

Wing Commander (1990)
X Wing (1993)
Mechwarrior 2 (1995)

All games that had far better and far more advanced targeting controls than MWO.

Lostech is the cliché joke that never ceases to be relevant.

You have the right to bring whatever **** mech you want to.

I have the right to complain about your **** mech if you are on my team.

Who are you to say what I can or can not say about a ****** mech build?

You are as free to ignore my complaints as you are to build ridiculously ineffective builds

This isn't a bad idea at all. Being able to see allied loadouts can encourage certain mech builds to pair up and smarter team cohesion and roles in PUG games. Positioning in PUG games might take a bigger role as a result as well.

While we're somewhat on the subject can we remove player titles when you select a mech?
It serves no purpose other than to give useless information.

I'm teasing. It's an excellent idea. It would help to know when someone on my team thought it would be funny to screw the other 11 people they dropped with.

It would help to know who is worth counting on and who isn't, plus on cw if you're pugging it can help coordinate. That whole "dude, you're packing MLS and srms. Stay in cover until they are closer" thing.

That, or the ability to completely turn them off. I'd find that far more useful than a line showing what direction my mech's feet are pointing.
