Ok, omnipod switching definitely changes the game (Billion Small Pulse Stormcrow) but we can't just nerf omnipods for the sake of nerfing them (or buff them for the sake of buffing them).. it's indiscriminate and just.. sad.

What if there were quirks to each omnipod... that ONLY apply if the Omni pod is on a mech other than the original variant?

(Which would allow making them a little more severe.)

Thoughts?

I'd think that conditional quirks would be a reasonable way to tweak omnipods, but the obvious risk is a rise in complexity, which is already something of a problem with quirks generally. Of course, when PGI's New Balance System goes live (whensoever that may be), this could well all be a moot point.

They do already have the XP quirks for full omnipod sets, which suggests that they have architecture already developed to support some level of variable quirks, so this could be a viable option, but I doubt we'll see any movement on it, or on quirks generally, until we've had several more PTS sessions with gradually more complete New Balance test runs.

Well, the reason the Omnipods are nerfed in the first place is because the builds they enabled were decided to be OP by PGI. It doesn't matter if the pods are on their original variant or not if they still enable those same builds. Your idea would limit mix-pod OP builds, but unless the the nerfs that get activated are serious it won't be enough to actually stall them (just like the previous nerfs to the TBR and SCR weren't really enough to stop them there).

What was wrong with the last round of Omni nerfs was the fact that it targeted general weapon categories and not specific ones when it was very specific ones (cERML and cLPL) that were the problem. And everybody was upset over those minor changes when all they did was bring the TBR and SCR output in-line with the STK-4N.
