Until you get doubled basics, I'd avoid 2xLPL.

Lpl+,a couple ermls are probably a better levelling build.

Ermls and a uac10 are popular, too.

It's best to use it like a more agile, more fragile Nova, swooping in and striking distracted opponents, or like those annoying Ravens that poke at you with ER LLs from a long way away. Not that you have to use ER LLs. Basically it's a skirmisher. It can't pack the firepower, armor, or heatsinks to do much brawling.

I have that special P variant with 6 mg's, an erppc and 2 srm 4's. Make fun all you want, it's my best performer hahaha!
The 2 lpl with ecm is popular given it's unreal jumping

One of my fave builds was 2 ERML + ERPPC.

The ERPPC serves as the main punch and lets you take advantage of MASC cornerpeeking (FLD), while the ERML let you have reliable hitscan at most ranges. It can also pack enough heatsinks to keep going for longer than many other Scat builds.

It does take some to get used to piloting the shadowcat as its really not a front line mech.
But it really helps to be covert, you should never be the primary target, exploting the ECM and hill-humping, jump-sniping, pokablilty of the SHC. So wide flanks and harassing...not too far from your team that you can't get help if you get in deep. Situation awareness and positioning is key. Pick targets that can't match your optimal weapon range (if in a ranged spec)

3 builds I've had a lot of good matches in
- 2 LPL
- 2 ER-LL 1ac2
- 3 SSRM6 2SL

- UAC10 / 2ERML also work pretty well.
- Dual ER-CERPPC's works as well but its apocalyptic in its heat.

2x SRM6 w/ Art and 3 med lasers

2x SRM4, 3 Med pulse

2x Erppc

2x LPL (without MG's is better, but you can run the Clan Arrow build)

3x SSRM6's, 2 Er Meds

2x ER Large, 1x ER Med

My favorite is 2x UAC/2s, 2x ER SLs, ECM, TC 1. I think it's a fun build, a bit easier on heat management, though the UACs can top out your heat meter in sustained fighting. If you put them both on the P ballistic arm you'll get good convergence. People often underestimate just how deadly 2 UAC2s can be.

I don't understand requests like that.

Look at its characteristics (45tons, medium speed, super-agility via MASC, incredible JJ-strength)
Look at its hardpoints (ECM, up to 3 E, up to 3 M, Ballistics bla, note the lower arm actuator)
Think what you want, like and excel with (long range, short range, missiles or direct fire?)
Play around in smurfy, tinker around a little at armor, ammo, etc. fill the rest up with HS.
Maybe try to transfer builds from other mechs (e.g. wubhawk 4xLPL -> 2xLPL at SHC)
Test ingame, fix weaknesses (too much heat? too low damage? too much face time?)

It's not so hard on the one hand and ultimately up to you yourself on the other hand.

Saying "I need help with a mech" sounds to me a little like saying "I need to buy food. How do I do it?"
Well. Get out and do it. That's it.

1 LPL + 2 MPL works well, as does 2 LPL if you can manage the heat.

Another option is SRM4s + MPL or ML for high risk close quarters, or 2 LRM packs + MLs for ranged support.

So far, 2x art-lrm10+3ton ammo 2x cermpl ecm/clan probe dish enough damage/assist/kills for a good grind session. I was supposed to wait for elite to be done for dual cerppcs but i feel like tonight is gona be the night and to hell with elite lol.

I play this model all the time.

a) it's not a brawler, don't even think about it

2) it's not a brawler, don't even think about it

Use it to gain high ground, reach out and touch someone. It's fantastic for making the opposing team keep their heads down.

Keep the ECM.

Try it with LPL, try it with medium and AC. Figure out what you like.

Now, would you please quit shooting me?

Remember: your MASC system is for short sprints, dogfighting, cornering quickly. Do not run up your MASC before you get in a fight, keep it for an extra edge in a turning fight or making a fast escape into nearby cover in bad situations. Flank, harass, and only commit when you know you can kill someone without drawing too much attention.
The Shadow Cat is a mediocre light hunter, but it is very good at deterring lights. If you are not flanking or harassing, stick by the fatties and make lights think long and hard about getting into the fatties' rears because MASC will allow you to out turn most of them and even give a bit of a chase.

2 Large pulse lasers and ECM is what I've been running. Buddy up with a fattie and it works pretty well.

In general, this 'Mech is basically a Clan Blackjack. It plays like one in every way, only it has access to better weapons and a better engine.

This is my favorite build at the moment.
- 1x C-UAC/10 + 2.5T ammo
- 3x cERML
- 11x DHS

It will perform like the BJ-1X, but with better range and jump-jets. Ridge-hump. Fire from the flanks. Always double tap to get 41 damage; it is timed perfectly with the laser burn. Run away when the enemy starts to focus you. Wash, rinse, repeat. It's very strong when played like this.

This is another good one.
- 1x cLPL
- 2x cMPL
- 16x DHS

It also plays just like a BJ-1X. It does 29 damage at 363 meters with the same sustain as a BJ-1X. Won't save you if you get rushed by heavier opponents, but in a 'Mech as fast as the SHC, that should not be a problem unless all your other team mates are dead.

And here's the other one I do.
- 3x cSRM4 + 4T ammo
- 2x cMPL
- ECM
- 14x DHS

It's a support brawler. You don't engage alone with it, you follow something heavier and then just sandblast targets. Though, I actually prefer it with cSRM2 in the arms. Being able to quickly fire again without a lot of heat is nice, and it lets you fit more DHS for better sustain.

2 LPL+ECM is amazing in certain maps. Generally you get to a high vantage point and start shooting at enemy from long range and since you have ecm they wont be able to return fire efficiently. Its not a gamebreaking build but its very effective i found.
