My most favorite builds so far, of any mech is the Direwhale, 4 UAC, 4 ML, 7 heatsinks, 17 ammo cases. Its the best balanced UAC / Lazer build I've used and it works really well. Good heat management and alot of fire power. Its rather short on ammo but packs a punch.

Lazers do the dmg during intervals of jamming, and in face to face combat, the UAC's shred armor with repeated lazer bursts, chain fire is good for lazers too.

my first (for me atleast) build that let me dominate was my bj 1X build (and yes its hot but it works wonders for me)
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...eb90dd096b39ad2

dont forget it has good quirks so it can alpha 2 times before it has to cool and its a verry short burn lazer alpha

I don't know if this is exactly what OP wants, but...

Ebon Jaguar prime with 2 UAC 20's, one in each arm. 6 tons ammo.

You alternate firing - so, left arm then right then left then right. If you don't jam, that's 80 damage. It tends to run out of ammo too quickly (out before the end of the match) but I believe it would be a lot of fun and its difficulty of use is between easy and medium since the shells move slowly and the arms are far apart.

Great fun for a beginner I think.

Some of the mechs and Builds I recommend to newbies:

For the Clans:
The GaussBringer
Fantastic at med -> long range, decently fast, ECM, reasonably survivable. Even if they suck, the ECM is still beneficial to the team.

GaussVomit FTW.

Being an omnimech, you also aren't locked into sucksville with poor mastering variants like you are with some 'Sphere mechs.

For the 'Sphere:
BlackJack
I advise heavily that this one requires more caution, but it's a great mech to come to grips with a poking support playstyle, which IMHO is one of the better ones for new players to adopt. It also teaches about protecting fragile mechs, as the XL is like dynamite if you aren't careful.

If they find themselves getting rekt, they can drop speed and gain survivability with a STD engine.

Honorable mentions go to the ACH, the MadCat (though it's less newbie friendly than other Clan mechs), the SCR, and the Stalker.

I also tend to advise against pure LRM boats, as their effectiveness decreases exponentially as you move up tiers, and direct fire weapons are something everyone should practive with.

Just as my sig shows--BLR-3S with triple LPLs + triple MPLs. Loadout so idiot-proof, even newbies can do it. ;) BLR-3S Wubmaster MKIII

Do not forget the BAP.

That is by far the deadliest crab build I've seen so far. Most people put a batch of lasers on there and hope for the best (and typically get the worst).

BJ-1X 4x4 ML with bap and max engine. Bunch of fun with those quirks, but I'm guessing it will get nerfed into oblivion soon.

I always like to put lasers in my arms, since I can chase something faster with them better than torso only (sweeping the legs)
and I found the JJ not really worth taking

so for me I use 4 UAC 5's in the torsos, and 2 Mediums in the arms
not using the lockd JJ torsos is freeing up some more space n weight for ammo

SCR-PRIME

Crows are cheaper than Timby's and Dires, and you can try out any kind of build except dakka spam with them. This one is mixed loadout because why not. I advise a taker to upgrade the weapons they like and do well with and cut out the ones they dont bit by bit.

Hands down my four best 'mechs, in order, are:

Victor Dragon Slayer
AC/10, 2xLPL, max armor, BAP, XL330, 4 jets. This is one of two Victors that have broken 750 damage for me. It's my favorite. It took awhile for me to fall in love with it but it's just a good platform for what skills I bring to the table.

Victor 9B
AC/20, 2xLPL, max armor, BAP, XL330, 3 jets. My other 750-dmg Victor.

Catapult Jester
4xLarge Laser, BAP, max armor, XL305, 1 jet. My most consistent 'mech. It does get hot, particularly in Caustic, Tourmaline Desert and Terra Therma.

Catapult A1(C)
2xALRM15, 2xASRM4, 2xSSRM2, max armor, BAP, XL255, 1 jet. 69.9kph with speed tweak, 1080 LRM rounds, 100 rounds for both SRM types. I've managed to take down a Mad Cat in a brawl with this build. It has a 55 point damage rating when working between 270 and 180 meters.

You've got the gauss ammo in the legs for some reason.

You know gauss ammo is inert... right?

No, Bishop just loves hisself some Summoner Prime. It is actually a very fun build. Not the best build for the Prime, but certainly a very enjoyable one to play.

Nope. Some of us are happy to play hardmode. I'll leave metacrutches to the comp scene.

Oh, and I just hit tier 3 in this acct, too. So, I guess I'm a pretty good troll.

Full meta stormcrow (laser vomit)

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...bae3474b0ef24b0

It's the first build I'd recommend to a new player, especially with the new 5 million tutorial bonus on top of the cadet bonus. It's fast, durable, and hits hard. It also only requires 1 omnipod purchase to kit out.

My only advice for new pilots:

Avoid becoming addicted to the "meta" and if possible, forsake Tiers 1, 2, and 3.

Mechspecs and metamechs websites if you want to see mechbuilds discussed.

Then try them out. Typical good builds aren't necessarily good for you. Find what you like and perform well in.

Just my 2 C-bills
