I've bought the dwf-s and currently have a build with 3xcuac5 5xmpl and I'm not shredding mechs who dare to step in front of me, and feel I could do better.

Please tell me your strategies and builds.

best variant for dakka since ct jj allows the use of both B side torsos. you have the right idea just go for bigger dakka and less pewpew. that way you have insane dps.

5 uac5, 3 erml - better range but hotter (my favorite)

2 uac5, 2 uac10, 4 erml - nice alpha, runs cooler but worse dmg spread. (i recommend this one since it is easier to play)

2 uac10, 3uac5 - brutal dps, tight on ammo and no backup weapons. (big dakka = most fun dakka)

These IMO are the best dakka dires and most suitable builds to take advantage of the S's CT JJ. However, there are many ways to run dakka on Dires; the 4 uac10 build is an example of another solid option. Don't forget to strip armor from the arm you don't use and make that side your primary shield side. The 2 builds with lasers need at least 2 additional heat sinks but no more than 3. You can strip some leg armor for extra ammo but do so at your own risk. yea...

So how to play them? Simply punish anything that peeks at you by spamming mouse button. Don't force trades (don't peek) and wait for a good moment to go all in and shred'em, try to do so when your team will be able to support you. This is a punish then push type of build (not a peeky/pokey build). If you're running one with lasers be aware that you shouldn't spam them. The heat the lasers produce will reduce your DPS with the UACs, use them when you can afford the heat or when you need that extra bit of dmg to finish off a component quickly. Last but not least, it is easy to forget to twist a bit and spread the incoming dmg you take across your body while you are spamming dakka and laughing hysterically, so be sure to twist intelligently in order to prolong your life (is the incoming dmg much greater than the outgoing?). That being said killing them faster than they kill you will also prolong your life so don't be afraid to have a staring contest because your build doesn't blink.

I hope this helps. GL and HF.

Al's a smart guy - seconded.

I generally run the 5 UAC5, 3 ERML variant with 8.5 tons of ammo.

Also, the main reason you want the S variant is the jump jets allow you to both get in position quickly on maps like canyon (you need to get up top there before you get trapped in a ditch), and also to jump-turn if you get flanked unexpectedly.

You're going to face-tank a lot, so make sure your armor is allocated heavily to the front. Top players might run with as little as 4 back armor. If that's a little on the scary side you can increase it a bit, but I wouldn't go over 10 in the back.

There's also a skill component with shooting the dakka. Timing your shots to keep DPS high while avoiding jamming comes with time and experience. The key is never to panic while you're firing. You need an internal metronome to pace yourself, even while another dakka build is hammering you.

Sniper
UAC10(This actually works better on other variants, JJ's take up tonnage for ammo/armor.)

These are the two I run with the most success. The biggest tip I can give you is to remember you are incredible slow and cumbersome. You always have to be aware of your positioning in cover, as well as where the team is going. A Direwolf that gets left behind is and easy kill for the other team.

I think my W is the one I use for dakka plus lasers and my S is currently set up as a fat poptart, but this build seems like it would be pretty effective: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...8ee5f62815a5760

Sell the direwolf and buy a Warhawk (run it with 2x UAC/10's). The DWF is a beast, but you need to work with at least one partner or you're a big juicy target, and a 100 ton mech is going to be hell on the group queue matchmaker. Plus, the warhawk is fast enough to keep up on the larger maps; sadly, a lot of the bigger assaults are too slow for the new meta.

Keep the Dires, just add Warhawks.

I use both in Solo. You just have to realize with using a Dire, you could be at a bad spawn on a bad map and get left behind.
Sucks but part of that game.

Warhawks trade speed for durability. No one every shoots your legs or arms. Its all St or CT. Mech is over-sized lik a Borg Cube. But it carries almost as much firepower. Ive been using them well in Pugs. Lazerhawk is real.

Just got my second Executioner...not sure what to make of it yet/ not leeted.
