It does seem to happen to heavier mechs more often. I'm sure there's no real statistics to back that up, but I'm just going to joke that the extra weight of the heavier mechs is too much for the network to handle.

Or people with slower internet gravitate towards heavier mechs.

happens to all weight classes.
it is that the rest of the team notices only when it is an assault.
other weight classes have the speed to catch up

Not cool.
There's no shortage of people out there who assume any time anything goes wrong, it is somebody intentionally doing it. It's sad, really.

Exactly, there is no point. Launching in an Assault is a suicide mission anyway so its pretty hard to be all up and peppy about it. Its hard to have a positive attitude about being a kamikaze pilot. You know wherever you are going, you will just go there, shoot as much as you can for a few seconds before you die.
if you drop in any another weightclass, the sky is the limit and you know anything can happen this match.
Other class attitude is "Lets go and do this guys!!"
Assault class attitude is "Urghh is it time already...Lets go and get this over with"
Even if your team wins you know you are almost guaranteed to die. Any time a reposition happens, Nascar happens, or an enemy push happens, you are guaranteed dead. If you purposely stay back and play conservatively, whats the point of being in an Assault?
Thats why players are much more likely to have a mopey attitude to get going in an Assault. You know you are the bit fat dopey town clown thats just there to show up and act like a bit of a pop the pinata mini game for some amusement.
Not being so quick to dive into the action is a attempt to have a chance at some fun. Let some people die off, hope your team is winning and go and clean up a bit. Its the only way you can do "good" in an assault.. If you are there during the initial contact you will be blown up. Thats why I have said numerous times Assaults in need more Armour in general. All Assaults, the Atlas the most. So you are not afraid to push a bit and live during a firefight. They are limited by the same ghost heat damage anyway so no need to have them have about the same armour as a Heavy,
