I personally like the old system and the old marker better, what do you guys think?

I feel the old marker is better because it's much less intrusive and the contrast between blue/yellow and red is much more distinct than the shape change. I personally can't remember there being much outcry for a new marker, can you?

I also like the old system because in my opinion hit-markers aren't supposed to be fully immersive, they're meant to help make online games less frustrating by letting you know if your're hitting invisible walls or are missing due to lag.

Look forward to seeing public opinion.

Personally I don't think people should vote, unless they've gone in the game and tried it.

The patch notes mention that the new hit marker should turn red as well as change shape, but the behaviour in-game is to only change shape.

I wouldn't really mind/care if it was both, but with only the shape it's harder to notice for no real gain.

Would anybody care to comment on why they think the new system is good? IT seems like a very poor way to force people to hold locks.

Nearly every vote I've seen in favor of the silliness on the test server is either coming from people who just want laser-vomit to die (even if doing so takes the game with it) or who are confusing change with progress and the free-for-all nature of a test server with a "no-meta" environment that will never exist in reality.

As for me, I think changing the crosshairs is just more meddling with things that aren't broken.

I want both options condensed. Now i've had time to look at it, I like the shape changing - but it's a low contrast option that's hard to see unless you're really concentrating on it.

I vote colour and shape.

i would like it to be color based so RED reticle for me;
but let's not be selfish and think about people who may be color blind

let's keep the new shape as well as making it red; for someone who may be color blind

i voted new system because it is more realistic somehow... IRL you would not get a hit confirmation if you didn't have a lock - but i wouldn't mind going back either

Old system for both is vastly superior in every way. If they want to add the shape change in addition to the color change then fine, and if they want no hit indication outside of the mechs sensor range when not targeting but still functions inside sensor range when not targeting that would be fine as well but in general these new changes are terrible.

with out flipping tables, i like the lack of hit markers to unlocked targets. makes long range fighting more uncertain.

but i preferred the crosshair to flash red. more elegant than adding more lines to the already cluttered crosshair

Like the new system and the new marker, would be nice if it was a different color than your hud though.

I voted for the old system.
After a dozen games tonight, I didn't notice a dramatic improvement to the game (TTK and LaZor Puke is still there, I ran it!) and I'm having a hard time justifying the PR nightmare such a change would cause if implemented (it's already caused a significant amount of salty tears).

It's hard to see when you hit something. It simply doesn't pop as much as it did before. I prefer the old one, or at least make this one turn red when you get a hit.

I like the way they are going with this system . They are trying to make the informational warfare portion of the game viable. If a scout or someone else is targeting your target you will know if you hit. It is giving the light scout more viability. It is also giving a reason to bring lights with their exceptional sensor range in CW and the knew public queue with tonnage limits.

The red hit color is better although I do understand the colorblind component.. but changing the shape needs to be more obvious, or at least not "added noise" than it is currently.

Changing the arm reticle shape of a circle to like a square, triange, or even a star would be much more visible when successfully hitting the target.

It shouldn't be this complicated.

The reticle should flash red every time a hit is registered, regardless of locks or any other mechanic. This is important for new players to learn the game and for experienced players to identify hit registration issues. This proposed changes is more likely to increase player frustration than to achieve any other impact.

For some reason I feel the clan hit detection change is much easier to see than the IS one. It's much more dramatic and easy to spot. The IS version is much easier to miss because it's a much more subtle change with just a few very thin lines added to indicate a hit. I also think they should fix the yellow IS HUD because it's very difficult to see on certain maps (like caustic valley and sulfurous rift which are basically yellow on yellow). A bright neon green would be good, or better yet, make it tweakable so you can just adjust it to be whatever color you want.

Best option would be to make shape change and color change toggleable with a tweakable for the HUD color to be whatever you want.
