Given their parabolic arc, I don't think much spread would be needed at all. Hitting somebody with that would be pretty damn hard, as we've seen with Long Toms in MW4.

True, but when you do hit, it will be spectacular. Besides, I recall the weight being between that of an LRM and AC.

The exact weights are:

MM1: 2 tons (IS), 1 ton (Clan)
MM2: 5 tons (IS), 2.5 tons (Clan)
MM4: 7 tons (IS), 3.5 tons (Clan)
MM8: 10 tons (IS), 5 tons (Clan)

Same weight as Lurms, basically. Same critslots too.

An interesting note is that the heat efficiency gets worse in the upper launchers. The MM1 and MM2 offer 1 heat per mortar, but then the MM4 and MM8 each do 1.25 heat per mortar (5 and 10 heat total, respectively).

They're more like the high-arc LRMs from the days of yore (e.g. circa early-mid 2013), except they're also immune to AMS. ;)

What we need are MRMs and light gauss rifles.

I want to see hitreg buckle and scream when we get 80 missiles at short ranges inbound.
