Just award dmg done because of a lock, to the one sharing the info.

For scoring only and not subtracting from the dmg dealer. It would reward scouts, increase overall cbills and fit the current reward system.

Locking for LRMS would be a cash cow to scouts.

I need to get back out their I am flat broke in game. Too many mechs to basic in the unforgiving matchmaker Tier 3 hell. Although I despise Clan nerfings but the New setup on the PTS may help my motivation and earning potential.

Since you can't fire safely from distance where you can take your time to aim, it is highly likely that you will end up spreading out the damage. That means more overall damage (since you are not always 1shotting everyone).

R takes time. Time is not always available. So even if you consistently spam R, you're going to get less net damage.

"Spam R."

Well there's your problem.

Well I suppose it is a matter of perspective, but given that they are in fact testing random numbers and changing mechanics that have been in place for a long time and don't need to be changed I would call that punishing and arbitrary.

Do you feel that the current mechanics are "as good as it is going to get"? Do you think lasers are doing too well compared to other weapons? Wouldn't you agree that the PTS is THE place for testing random numbers and new mechanics that may never end up in the live game?

They are looking at ways to limit lasers without actually nerfing the weapons directly through raw heat or damage changes. They are trying to make target locks an actual important part of the game instead of just an optional subsystem, and I think they always felt that target locks were supposed to be important.

Maybe you don't think target locks have a place in MWO. Maybe you think 900m snapshots are perfectly fine- both are valid opinions. But many other people have opinions that include 'lasers are too strong compared to other weapons' and PGI is trying to address that. Aren't the forums filled with posts about 'laser vomit'? Hell, I myself said recently "Unless there are major mechanical changes to how MWO works I cannot foresee the day when lasers will not be the optimal weapon." Now, for the first time since splash damage was removed, I think there may be a range that SRMs might actually be as good as lasers. Wouldn't that be a positive change?
