people i d like to suggest something real real REAL important for me:

anyhow let the pilots be able to stand in front of their mechs !! (maybe before gettin in the cockpit)

WHY its important? BECAUSE:

you should be able to see your mech from outside as human ba or human pilot ,you should be able to touch it, run around the mechs or even get onto them!! like that you get this feeling your HAIRS standing up IN YOUR NECK seeing these awsome maschines, taste and feel the steel, power and beauty!!

i dont want miss that!! this makes the whole game feels much more realistic!! this is not robotic wars, it is the piloting of tons of steel and technic!!

anyone thinks same out there??

Since you asked...

I don't feel a burning need to stand in front my mech. If it's in there, so be it. If it's not, I damn sure wouldn't want the game release delayed to get it in there.

There will doubtless be plenty of visual clues that you are operating a giant war machine. Standing next to a multi-story building, and finding that your cockpit is on a level with an upper floor, for one...

As for touching a mech... go with the Lego suggestion. If you start now, you can even have your experience before they release the game to the rest of us.

Like seen in the "Reboot" Trailer (2009) (anyway the cockpit seems a bit too soft for a Mech to me)

- Cockpit + Holographic HUD
- A realistic balancing between advanced functionalities and field of view (if someone deploys the U.A.V. a short timed look down to the instruments while the pilot's hand is moving onto cockpit's buttons)
- Situation depended fading of holographic informations about targeting, damage, warnings and much more
- Cracking cockpit windows and bullet impacts on it
- Missing instruments and holographic functions based on the taken damage (the instruments & hud should also start to jitter)
- Customization (color, position, size, timing, language, alpha and more)

I dont really get the question.. Are you asking for third person view? How much of the cockpit your see from inside really depends on the chassis.

He's asking if seeing the machinery in the cockpit is needed to be seen by anyone.

For full immersion types the answer is yes.

For simpit builders answer is no. Simpit builders do not want to see another cockpit inside their own hand built cockpit; ruins their immersion. HUD only option is their preference with additional options to tailor their multiple screens with different views and read-outs.

PGI has also stated that they are aware of motion sickness problems in a few people due to head bobbing in FPS in first person view and are looking at options. Limiting what is drawn in 3rd person view to only what could be seen in the first person view seems a logical solution.

"All of the Above" makes the most sense, imo. Gives everyone what they need/want/desire without forcing any one view on any one player.

All I'm asking is that we not have a Tyranny of the Masses.

When I drive my car, the dashboard, rear-view mirror, and steering wheel aren't invisible from my view.

Cockpit stays, or the old-timers will riot. Just feels right.

Without cockpit it will make no sense. Immersion and atmosphere will be lost. Remember, you're a pilot not a robot.

It is a part of gameplay.

I don't think I like even the option to turn off the cockpit. Because then they have an advantage that those with it on dont A broader point of view. I mean with some mechs part of the balancing factor is that the cockpit obstructs a lot of the view. Letting people take that away... Would not be cool.

And again I dont notice the previous post. Oh well you can take my post to be in agreement with Karish's.

I agree with Roh. Cockpit should be required, if people have motion sickness problems then the solution is to give an option to keep the cockpit static instead of bouncing around. It's integral to immersing the player in the game.

Anyone else remember MechWarrior 3? You know, the one where if you got too close to an LBX20 going off your forward view started looking like swiss cheese with static fill on the HUD, along with the proper shattering glass sound effects? Yeah. I wanna see that in a game again. None of the MW games before or since have had the kind of immersion that MW3 did for me.

I want an option for a flat HUD, not the 3D version shown in the new trailer. Everything else I think I don't care what happens.

"Broader POV"? That's your reasoning behind no HUD option?

Looks like we'll not have the option for multiple monitors if these two (and many more) have their way. I greatly suspect they won't get their way.

Next somebody that starts a "Cockpit/No Cockpit" poll needs to add a "And no multiple monitors, either" optional answer. That'll fly like a lead brick, I'll betcha.

Not a mech game without a cockpit.

Here's my first one.
