Looks really cool, but I can't recall having seen this game anywhere? They seemed to be playing online as well. Anyone know anything about this game?

Cheers!

Mechwarrior: Living Legends is a Crysis mod.

Some people consider it to be better than MW:O.
It has more than just mechs. It also has tanks and aerospace fighters.

Yeah for an older game, looks pretty nice, I'd go as far to say its alot more complete than MWO is as far as a BT game.

MWLL was a fan made game. It's my understanding that it's still up and running, but there's been no development done on it in a few years. The player population, so I've been told, has never been particularly large.

the homepage for Mechwarrior Living Legends is here : http://www.mechlivinglegends.net/
It is a mod for cryis wars, which you can get for free nowadays.

edit: the combined crysis wars + MWLL installer can also be found on their homepage under downloads. http://mw-ll.org/

It was and still is better (in the sense that it is more Battletech and much less shooter) than MWO. The one thing MWO has over it is the graphics. That's my oppinion of course, your tastes might be different:)

It's a shame they changed the HUD shortly before developement ended.

If i recall correctly there were one of the programmers for MWLL was a Crytec employe which also worked on MWO after MWLL developement was haltet. If So that might be the reason why MWLL was frozen before they could add even more goodies. My memory might be fuzzy though - but you can dig that up somewhere in the MWLL forums if you care ;) The mod is still up and running, and i will be forever gratefull for everybody working in their spare time for it - and cudos to the legal rights holders for allowing it :)

But back to the topic - it is a really really good and addictive Battletech game, you SHOULD try it out (no really, try it!) if you are into battletech. *whispers* And you can play with a WARHAMMER , Clan elemental armor and much more for free *squeals*:)

Yeah, but don't ever try speaking of MWO in even-close-to-neutral-word. The community is extremely small and most of the guy literraly HATE Mechwarriro Online.

Most of the time you won't find a server with more than 2 or 3 players.
But sometimes, you can have a server almost complete and god this is GOOD!

Yes, that game IS better and closer to Battletech than MWO currently is. But the game is also harder and you WILL be most of the time exterminate by the other players.

I personatly enjoyed a lot that game. But the community in regard to MWO is more toxic than anything else... Holding a grudge agaisnt PGI because they for them "put a knife in the throat of MWLL" while it's not that at all.
The dev stopped worked on MWLL with the arrival of MWO for multiple reason. One of the guy started working with MWO. And the rest was working for so long they had enought and... Well, let's just say they also wanted a break.

Beside, MWO got in the futur the Marauder and the Warhammer + others Unseen. And unlike MWLL. Got a futur.

Probably b/c they were sent a cease and desist letter as soon as PGI started making money off of mechwarrior "coincidentally"

Well, when you're using someone else's intellectual property without a contract/license your project's future walks on eggshells to begin with.

You have no idea what you are talking about.
If you knew about the licensing between Microsoft and the makers of MWLL/Crytek (for standalone) you never would have made a comment like this.
MWLL never received a cease and desist for the last published version. the cease and desist was issued for further development of the mod, after PGI failed to acquire the technical know-how and human ressources of that mod.
infact a part of those modders are stil active in game development and modding.
The mod is still available and is still allowed by Microsoft, the holder of the Mechwarrior franchise rights.
It can be found here: http://www.mechlivinglegends.net/ .

Very well, what are the terms of the license? Because "MWLL is produced by the WANDERING SAMURAI TEAM under an exclusive Game Content Usage rules license from MICROSOFT." is the closest we come to knowing what this license is. As far as we know, Microsoft has the right to pull this license on a whim.

Unless, of course, you have better information to share? If you do, I'll read it. I was making my statement based upon other talk about MWLL that I've heard here. If that talk was incorrect (which it seems to have been), than fine, I'm wrong.

MW:LL did a lot of things better than MWO, wish PGI learned a thing or two from them.

MW:LL did everything better than MWO except for the mech design/animations. MWO has way better looking mechs.

Read this:
http://www.mechlivinglegends.net/eula/
and this:
http://www.mechlivin...nds.net/page/9/
and combine the attempt from PGI to "acquire" MWLL in the second half of 2012.
Maybe it helps to understand what it is about.

I was impressed by the game play at least. It didnt seems so rushed. One of my issues, however small, with MWO is how fast and blurry the light mechs move. They act more like the squirrel in the movie "Ice Age" than they do mechs.

The other two things that jumped out was the HUGE map and lack of clutter. I seriously hope to see more of those kinds of maps in MWO (like Alpine).

Regardless of legality, PGI or IGP or whoever basically took what MWLL was doing, crushed it into the ground and then kind of delivered a... weird, not-the-spirit-of-MWLL-at-all approach and then tried to declare itself 'the' MW game everyone should play. I mean, why else shut down a mod project?

So I think there'd be plenty of reason to be sour at MWO if you were one of those that was enjoying MWLL and the direction it was taking.

If only the community of MWLL was not that toxic.
Damn, I have been freaking insulted because I talk about MWO and how some mechs are actually pretty nice done.
The way I have been personatly treated is in no way how a community should react.

Heck, if something CAN save MWLL. It's MWO. Why? Because people will first find MWO then after wandering in the forum and watching video will see something called "MWLL" and they will wonder what the urbanmech is this?
Then they will discover that stunning game and hop in....

That's how I discovered MWLL... And I'd rather have an OK game with a nice community than a perfect game with a horrible commnity. Maybe I dramatise, but that's how I feel about the community. Especially about someguys there who seemed friendly at first but once you write "MWO"... It's a clusterf*ck of insult and stuff like that.

From what I remember, this was merely a rumor. Please provide specific reference(s) to back up your claim.
