Subs would also give PGI a more stable income.

Things I'd like to see on a sub would be:

Premium time.
Small range of colour's and camo's
MC injection each month, something like 3 months could buy you a mech.
Get a step up for new mechs, for MC then C-Bills.

I'd buy subs for that.

If you buy $15 worth of MC. You can get premium time, which is C-bill and experience, and you have like 500 MC leftover. That's very much like some of the other F2P game subscriptions. The only thing they don't do is give you discounts for having premium time. They should have a monthly premium time sale mech.

This has been brought up before, so I'll just share what I wrote then.

I support the general idea in the sense that we could help development through a steady income stream that isn't based on the surges of packs. I think that being a subscriber should give a discount on the Mechpacks, best example is SoE's 50% off on all expansions as a subscriber for SWTOR.

This all around would benefit the game if those funds were used in a fashion for improvement of the title all around rather than side projects or specialty work for people. It's not our decision on how those funds are to be spent though.

Quote

  • Players who have a lot of free time (25+ hours per week)
    • Existing F2P model with unlocks attained through Cbills and grind over time.
  • Players who do not have a lot of free time, but are happy to spend
    • Monthly Subscription Model in addition to Instant purchase system already in place
      • Monthly Subscription would use existing template put down by all other MMOs or the general pass that SOE uses for all of their titles.
        • $15 Month to Month, $12 Per Month for buying a 3 Month Clump, $10 a Month for buying a 6 Month Clump.
        • Permanently Activated Premium Time
        • Currency on a Week to Week Basis, this could be in the amount of 250MC to 500MC, figure out the price model.
        • Monthly or Weekly Unlock "Gifts" of existing Vanity items
          • Example of Vanity Item is like Camo or Color or Cockpit item.
  • Players who have some of both, but not a lot of both
    • Existing Instant Purchase System
    • Monthly Subscription without use of the Instant Purchase system
    • Limited time Premium Options, Which is an existing feature.
      • Only the Premium Bonus, no other perks of the subscription model.

I was thinking the usual subscription Model of $15/Month, $42/3 Months (equates to ~$14/month), $80/6 Months (Equates to ~$13/Month)

Subscription would entail
  • Permanent Premium Time (Does not impact the premium time users have banked)
  • 150 MC Per Week
  • Longevity Bonus (Skins / Colors / Vanity Item) Once a month
  • Forum Badges based on length of subscription (3 Month, 6 Month, 12 Month, etc.)
  • +25% Loyalty Points for Victories in CW

It would probably end up $20 a month, but something like:

Premium Time
Monthly MC injections (500-1000 or something)
Unlocked camo/colors while subscribed
Discounts on everything
Set up private matches without a second person running PT.

Would be nice. I think a month of pt is about 15 so I assume it would be more than that.

Tbh, a subscription isn't my preferred idea but it's probably one of the most plausible.

What do you guys think of Pgi offering a subscription? Before you freak out, you wouldn't get p2win or anything like that. The game would still be f2p just some ppl would be paying monthly for extra goodies.

...

Here's a poll about this idea: http://mwomercs.com/...cription-model/

Nice idea. Voted.
I'm all about supporting the game, but I want to see more content (not just more Mechs).

Having a constant revenue stream would make it more permissable for them to expend resources to do stuff that isn't associated with making more income. Like new maps, or cosmetic improvements or functionality improvements.

At least I'd hope they'd use the money that way

Yes that is the idea. Pgi is so dependent on mech packs I feel like it's holding them back.

Add a subscription bonus that stacks with premium time.

How about subscription only items, warhorns, paint, and camos?

Custom geometry would be awesome! Only useable for those with subscription time. The longer you've had a subscription the more you could unlock.

I find there is nothing in the current game that makes me think I would pay a sub for any of it. I tried my brother's account without all the founder, hero, or champion mechs with out all the modules and skills most my mechs have. I only found it made the game much more worse than normal to what I'm use to having. The only thing it made me want to do is buy him a gift mech like the wolf hound but he told me not to bother. He wouldn't pay a dollar for a thing in the game as is he told me. He said it felt like a very rushed demo.

As for not getting all content for free with a sub I play swtor. I've had that account 5 years playing off and on without subing and the only thing I've "bought" is the $5 to unlock hk-51's starting quest. It is very possible to play that game and get much of the content without subing even with the limit of x per week in things like hutt ball and pvp.

My take on this is that the subscription is what PT should be...maybe not as much as I suggested in my last post for the $12 or whatever a month costs of PT, but better bonuses like 100% cbill/xp and maybe a monthly mc stipend. I would pay for that consistently if I knew that saving mc for 3 or 4 months would get me say a medium hero mech, or whatever.

Many ppl suggested that before, and I still don't know WHY FLIPPING PGI didn't start that...

If it allows a mores steady cash flow, freeing some ppl to wornk on CONTENT instead of mech packs for more money, why not?

10 tol 15 bucks a month, premium time all the time, discounts, maybe a chance to win some MC/mechs every now and then...

I would subscribe since day one...

I'd pay a subscription for a Mechwarrior MMO. Not this game...3 years of beta and counting.

Exactly. Of all the ideas that have been put forward as alternatives to jumbo mech packs, I believe subscriptions would be the most capable of achieving the goal of Pgi focusing more on things that aren't mech packs.

They would look at other similar games that have subs and do something on the same scale. And as far as I know no f2p game offers all the content for free with a subscription so there is no way that MWO would do it.

I would gladly play $10-15/month for some premium, mc and maybe a discount on mechs and equipment.

Turbine, Dungeons and Dragons Online.

Free, Premium and Subscription based all in one game and the model works for them. Here, not so much.

Hmm I wonder if a subscription would be enough to cover those in MWo

if they want people to subscribe it should include getting all mech releases free and all other content unlocked.

not how it works in Swtor, why would it be that way here
