So can I turn it off? Seriously, when I saw it on the testing grounds I thought "Nice idea". Then when I dropped in the Que and it was still there...

Teaching us to walk and chew gum at the same time is fine in the training area, but on the field... take off the training wheels fer cryin' out loud! <_<

You can disable it in the options. <_< Go to "settings" and uncheck "directional arrow".

Thanks El. Do you think it would be better to have it off in the first place? Or do the new folks really need that much hand holding?

In settings. I immediately turned it off.

It felt like a bigger third arm.

Maybe its really early in the morning here. Maybe I wanted to have a discussion about it. Finally maybe I'm old and cantankerous and wanna complain once in a while. :P

Not completely on topic, but I'd like the arrow on the map to get a better color than white.

Yeah depending on the terrain the arrow can be a but invisible. A Neon yellow or other bold eye catching color.

The leg orientation arrow from the Tutorial has been integrated into the rest of the game. This is on by default, and can be toggled through your game settings.

Turned it off after like 5 seconds, because it completely ruins immersion for me... (Luckily i read the patch notes and knew about this feature and how to turn it off)

I really don't worry much about respect on a forum, Paigan. I say what I feel. How folks respond is up to their level of maturity. As most have seen mine fluctuates.

FYI, Since I have been training on a new machine at work, I haven't had much time to read the forum and or patch notes. Or did you not notice the reduction in posts over the last couple weeks. B)

I think he knows how to turn this off. (I hope)

So the point is, it should be disabled BY DEFAULT.
But ofc, PGI is preparing for COD steam newbies.... so maybe its still not enough for them....

i did just fine without it, but i'm leaving it on for a few weeks then turning it off to see if i 'miss it' (likely not)

what's bizarre is that the arrow disappears in elevated terrain in front of you, like it was half-assed thrown on at the last second. wouldn't it be more useful and immersive if it was part of the HUD display over top of the terrain in front of you instead of hidden inside the terrain?

Took me 3 or more eeks to be fully aware of my orientation and legs in mechwarrior 4 and it has as much symbols to say which way your leg is facing as MW: O does...

One of my friends who has been a casual player since 2013 still has issues walking the right way when he torsos...

It's quite hard for some people... harder for some more then others but still hard...

It's kind of funny when people don't get diplomacy and make smug comments about it.

It was a diplomatic choice of words for expressing something else.
Something much more undiplomatic.

The actual bottom line behind the diplomacy was: he complained purely because he was too lazy or not able to either read the patch notes nor take a quick look in the settings. Emotionally driven behavior without using rational problem solving approaches first is generally associated with animals or little children.

Holographic arrow is great for new players. If they just added the holographic arrow 2 years ago instead of 3rd person they couldve saved themselves a TON of grief.
