Wrong. They work just as equally against mechs as infantry. Reread the Battletech rules. They got extra damage vs. infantry as a balancing factor and logical reasoning to take them over a medium laser . . . but this mainly happened in later editions of rules that put caps on the amount of heat any unit could take from external sources. However, they still wreaked havoc on mechs even after this change.

Flamers should be perfectly viable weapons next to anything else. Maybe not the typical first choice, but certainly a viable option. There are plenty of good ways and ideas out there for balancing purposes.

I think the (hidden) reason flamers are bad is because they would severely affect the game performance if widespread used. Maybe they will be made viable after the promised new effects.

Thank you for that.

I'm happy there's a lot of great features coming to MWO. Steam release, CW phase 3 and what I want the most: co-op and singleplayer missions!
2016 will be a great year for Battletech/Mechwarrior indeed.

Well, I am glad that my NPC question got answered. Personally I would like to better motivation for loyalists players other than c-bills. It was good that Russ explained how Comstar Intercepts could be integrated into that. :)

When will you quit weight class matchmaking in favour of a true BattleValue system, that incorporates the Mech, loadout and pilot tier in CW, group and single player queues?

I know that one facet was the need to rework the visuals; but it wasn't for performance issues . . . it was to prevent "Flamer Blindness" when people are being shot by them. However, again, the last town hall revealed that Paul was required to make the appropriate follow ups. Unfortunately, I don't have twitter (nor do I want to use it) to make the follow up question to Bombadil. I would love to see the Flamers finally get their rework completed.

i think the community needs to think more long run.

first make a great competitive environment by reducing the faction number because mwo does not have a huge player base.

As the game become more accessible, fun, balance, and most in important; populated; then you add in other factions bit by bit.

i doubt it will happen cuz too many of you old farts can't move past your nostalgia.

Can the 4v4 CW scouting be part of the same match? perhaps simultaneously 3-5km from the O-gen assault?

DC's can assign lance members, and therein would have it's objective multiple KM from another, or perhaps evolving farther into an assault and or regroup.

In re below
TLDR: balance is certainly necessary to the long term play-ability of the game but if you make THIS game something other than a MECHWARRIOR game the "old farts" will leave the game in droves...and that may be the end of the game.

Totally agree with the initial sentiment of above email. Totally disagree with conclusory statement/assertion.

I see this here and there in the forums that some how the reliance on lore, distinctive mechs, and/or the imbalance between IS and Clan mechs (lore based) and the insistence by "old farts" that these things be at least respected if not maintained is somehow responsible for many of the negatives in MWO.

Couple things I always think when I see these comments:

1) Mechwarrior is in the tittle of the game. That suggests that the game ought to have something to do with well, Mechwarrior.
If you want a robot game there is Hawkin. If you want a tank game, there are a few as well. There is only 1 Mechwarrior game...it ought to be a game about and within the Mechwarrior universe. Crazy I know.

2) The gameplay issues that this game has are certainly in part do to the developers insistence on setting the game up to include clans vs IS and the associated difficulty in trying to balance these forces*, but again this is not the fault of the player base and our desire to have a game relevant to the Mechwarrior universe. I predict however that if PGI decides to go full "balance" and effectively make IS and clan mechs interchangeable (BV or function-wise) then a lot of us "old farts" will abandon the game. Apropos:

3) This game has a limited player base. Based on these forums and my interactions in game...the "old farts" seem like the majority. Certainly the majority willing to pony up real $ in support of the game. When the "old farts" leave because the game is turned in to Hawkin II or is just poorly rendered walking tanks with no Mechwarrior feel then...the game will soon thereafter cease.

*As an aside: In re IS and Clan imbalance, I say keep it. Let the clans be "OP" or better or whatever. Increase the distinctions even more. The easiest cure for this "imbalance" (obviously the lore aspect of vastly greater IS #s isn't workable from a population perspective or PGI's willingness/ability to do 12 vs 10 drops) would be to make three ques for all game play modes: IS only, Clan only and Mixed. In CW the que type would be determined by the map geography and designation by players house or clan affiliations, with mercenarys able to attack wherever and against whomever with reduced rewards based on distance from a base planet (or something along those lines).

No, the problem is you "console kiddies" who can't handle a game that requires some actual thought and strategy beyond run and gun.

Hey, maybe that was the last picture of a heatprotection photoshoot. At first she has the whole thing and in the end shes protected with bodyhair, while they last.

Then there are people like you that just want to make it a pointless stompy robot game like all the other clones, and totally ignore the point of the game.

So Russ says that they see the problem with the amount of alpha damage but they don't know how to fix it. Meanwhile, a sizable portion of the community keeps waving around the same old "FLOATING RETICLE" banners. How about PGI just try it in a test server and if it fails, we forget all about it?

Can you do that?

1. Default loadout button
2. Rear view panel
3. Ability to see teammates loadouts
4. Team total damage done in stat window
5. Keep info about seen enemy mech
6. Next map preview and mech shortlist for quick choose
7.More open-space maps without bottlenecks
8. Mech collisions and fallings
9. Mech melee attacks
