The latter resistance collection was declared full of "meh" mechs from the beginning on the forums; and it kinda turned out that way. They are not bad, but... nothing fun or unique like Gladiator with MASC. (though that stuff could be called mediocre by many too)
What do the specialists think of the incoming Origins collection, Marauder, and Warhammer?
Anything interesting there?

Resistance mech meh?
Sorry but what?
The Wolfhound is a solid fast guy who can bite back without being OP like the firestarter.
The Crab is a battlemech resilient for his class who can also deal a lot of damage when used has an harrasser and who can do the damage sponge.
The Black Knight can ruin the day of lots of mech he can encounter including Timber Wolves and Dire Wolves.
The Mauler can be a very nice gun boat tooand is to not underestimate.
They are not "Meta" and that's better.
Theses guys saying theses mechs would be Meh are not to listen to in anyway.

Marauders: Unless there is a radical change in how I.S. XL engines work Marauders will be slower and outgunned by clan heavy mechs. That being said the Marauder has that dorsal weapon mount (top) allowing the pilot to hit anything they can see from the veiwport. So not so much shooting into things in the way that you can't see from the HUD. But then there are the arms that hand below the cockpit view so plenty of hitting things you can't see from the arm mounts.
Warhammer: All the hardpoints save the missiles are below the cockpit and close to the mech's waist.Probably a poor contender for using cover.Again because of the decrepid performance of I.S. XL engines the Warhammer will likely have more hardpoints than ability to use them as well as being slower and outgunned by clan mechs.
Origins IIc mechs: Likely the exstinction of the Inner Sphere counterparts. Why pilot a Jenner Hunchback Orion or Highlander when you can instead have the same mech with clan tech and a durable XL engine? The answer is you wouldn't.
IIcs will have clan tech and full customization so basicaly everything the Inner Sphere held as a minor advantage.

Wolfhound might get better as I unlock things but so far Panthers did better.
Crab may soak damage but cannot dish it out though in the right moment, it kills good.
Black Knight, when I feel safe standing up to one in a Medium compared to some other IS Heavies, its broken.
Mauler is OK though nothing to really write home about, LRM Maulers are targets.
Executioner is only seen as bad by those who dislike MASC and/or never learned how to move in it.
Marauder and Warhammer are due to status but will be too big to be really good unless someone finds a nasty firepower combination. Might make good damage sponges but will really need some serious firepower to alpha with before trying to tank or duck.
Origins, only the Jenner will have value.

when you have a very small collection , any mech pack is awesome because you get so much stuff in it
and your stable is very open to roles that you need to fill
however when you own 2 or more packs worth of mechs you become very picky about what you want next
as you get more mechs its going to become increasingly rare that you are excited about a whole pack
i only got the panther from R1 and the Mauler from R2
but i have the Full Founders and Full Phoenix plus individual mechs iv picked up along the way
so for me the packs are often very Meh, because i already have mechs that do the same thing as the ones on the way
there are no Meh packs, only people who would not get their full value

It PGI pulls through and actually does a good job with it, most of the mechs will at least be moderately to reasonably viable.
If not, it will all be hit or miss depending on how crazy they want to quirk them.

Not really. I had less than 12 mechs when I got the 12 mech Phoenix pack. It's hard to believe now because of meta shifts but only the SHD was even decent. I thought it would be the backbone of my garage and instead it sat unleveled for a long time. If I'd bought Res 2 in the same circumstance, the experience would have been similar if not quite as extreme.

Warhammer: Tier 3 mech
Orgins IIC: Tier 1 mechs
That's all I have to say about them...
Resistance two was not "Meh", it was moreover okay, goodies were mostly the Mauler and Black Knight Essentially.
Wolfhound looks ugly but turned out great, as did the crab.

Why? Why pilot IS tech? Because bugger the clans and bugger their clantech, that's why.
Inner Sphere and proud of it!

And... I ordered the 20$ pack of both. Am deciding which Hero I want (likely the Warhammer).
My only complaint, is that they should have for the 40$ package, made the pre-order variant a different variant altogether, to be released publicly at a later date (like they did with other packages)

Having said that, the new packs are generally a really good investment for a new player starting out, considering the throw ins like premium time and strippable equipment like engines that can be shifted into another Mech. A great example of this was the Enforcer and Panther pack. You could take the two 250XL engines out of the Enforcers and place them as the largest engine possible in the Panthers as an instant upgrade. It worked out rather nicely.
