New Flamer Idea

Currently we know that the flamer really has no point, so here is an idea to revitalize the weapon.

Instead of following TT rules, make it more of a heat over time mechanic that follows lore a bit more.

Flamers would now have a minute cooldown per burst and would not be just a straight flamethrower. Each burst will barely raise the temperature of the target mech, but more importantly it will negate all heatsink dissipation for a total of 15-30 seconds depending on the targets speed (ei, if you get hit with a flamer you can burn out the fuel faster by running away or getting to water).

With this system flamers could drastically change a battle by not allowing a laser vomit build to fire constantly without serious risk of shutdown, as they could not dissipate heat only add to it for a limited time.

This will also allow the inclusion of Inferno SRM's as they would be devastating on the battlefield.

Then every mech will equip it. Because it has only 1 ton.

Probably the only flamer idea I wouldn't want, right now just want it to have 100m range instead of 90m. And give the 0.7 damage back.

The only new flamer idea I want to hear from PGI is removing the flamer from the game completely. People talk about keeping it remotely close to lore? In lore, they weren't intended as an anti-battlemech weapon. They were used for setting fires and destroying infantry and armor. In lore, flamers had a miniscule effect on heat and you could instantly compensate for even multiple flamers on you by dropping one medium laser. Now you can have a cool running mech not firing at all and even one flamer will ramp your heat up. That's so not lore and it's unbalanced. Combined with the absolutely broken light mech situation in the game, flamers are grossly overpowered and need to be removed until fixed ... or just removed forever.

And you know...I would be fine with flamers removed too, then I'll ask for plasma cannon and inferno lrms! Posted Image

Hey, at least lights can't use them except maybe the bigger ones.
