Thoughts On Upcoming Voting System?

I know I'm alone in this but I actually like those three a lot. This game is repetitive enough as it is and now I know I'm almost guaranteed to play Caustic Valley Skirmish 90% of the time.
It really worries me. Thoughts?

Click warrior online, yet another reason to stop playing by clueless developers

If you want to play Terra therma then you just cast your vote for it when it appears
Guild wars 2 uses this system for its spvp
And it works great
You don't even have to vote if you don't care or like any of the current picks
After the votes are cast, the map and mode is randomly selected with the votes acting as a weight for selected maps
I can't tell you how many times I've seen it be a 99-1% selection and the 1% gets picked
So even if your the only person who likes any given map or mode you will get your way more than you would expect
It is a good system that will work well here
Think about it, you are running a really hot mech, so your likely to vote for a cold map, but flip that for ppl running cold mechs , you can actually influence where you might be fighting
And the only thing you sacrificed for it is the hard lock on game mode choice and you didn't completely give that up either
Cathy
You are so full of rage and hate
I don't think the devs could ever make you happy , not even by giving you the keys to the company
You are likely to throw them in the nearest drain just to spite them
Where has such blind hate towards everything they do gotten you ?

Instead of that... I´d prefer the following:
Let the players tag 4 mechs out of their hangar before the match (like a CW-dropdeck without tonnage restrictions). If you see the map that is going to be played on you have to choose one out of your four tagged mechs.
Problem solved.
If you don´t own 4 mechs your missing options could be filled up with trial mechs.

Lrm trolls will vote for Alpine, laser alpha strike guys will vote for Frozen city night, Brawers in City location, so it turns out that the match will be won by the team with more winning voters

But still curious about how it will turn out but I am not confident at all.

Can we have an option to turn off voting?
Drops selection with voting mode off?
Please?
How will this work with Game Mode selection? I only play Skirmish by selection, if mode voted is anything but skirmish, will I be forced to play non skirmish modes?
Will I only be able to vote skirmish due to that is only mode I have selected?

Fundamental basis for democracy.
If majority votes does not win, why call it voting? Why even have it if majority of votes do not win?

It was pretty clear that Russ and company were reluctant to add new game modes that would further split the playebase. By changing the system and removing the hard choice of which game mode, it opens up to allowing a larger number of game modes.
From the sounds of it, without the voting system, new game modes were dead in the water because if they were added without voting, it would have negatively impacted wait times beyond acceptable levels.

Voting on match mode is not to my liking. I mostly have all 3 ticked when searching for a match, but sometimes I want to run Conquest and Conquest only.

Doesn't dramatically distort the meta and identifies widely disliked maps.

I'm not sure the voting system is required though, I would have preferred they simply remove the game mode selection and make both mode and map a random pick.
All in all I think it's worth it in order to get better matchmaking, hopefully the votes only affect probabilities so there is always a chance for all the maps and modes to happen.

Game mode voting? NO
I haven't played in a month or two so I don't know if anything has changed, but there was nothing wrong with each player selecting or eliminating what kind of game mode they were open to before finding a match. It should stay that way with game modes.

This is the best idea. Pick a weight group you want to play. When the map and mode comes up, you choose between your available configured mechs that best fit. It encourages owning multiple mechs with different loadouts based on different situations. There will always be loadouts that run well given any map for those that are new or have few mechs in their stable.
But, I think what we are being given is what is within their programming abilities. I don't think it will turn out that bad. Most everyone PSR teams me with in solo queue is playing laser vomit, so I know it will be a laser vomit friendly map/mode (In other words cool map/Skirmish).
It will make the game boring, until they just implement the mech pick screen. I'm all for playing Conquest. But, I want to take a Conquest friendly mech, which is much different than a Skirmish friendly mech.

Maybe it's going to be a problem in the group queue, I don't know. But in the solo queue, I think it'll be a good thing. Maybe I can now have a game of Conquest without running into 3 enemy Streakboats who only play Conquest because they want to hunt light mechs.
That would be something.

That's not always how voting actually works. U.S. Presidential elections being a key example. Your votes here will simply weight the choices given and since not all choices are given each time, you aren't likely to see the disappearance of a map entirely from gameplay.

I agree that I do not like this system in any game but I also hate those maps and I can't wait till they are replaced with a better version.

As long as you pick and lock in your mech before voting starts, it shouldn't be a big deal. Even if you cast a vote for a map that better suits your load out, there are still 11 others that may not vote your way anyway.
Plus, voting on maps will supply real data on how the gaming population feels about each map. That way PGI should know which maps to redesign quicker.
This could be a pretty solid idea. I support it for now.

If we had many game modes with objectives totally different from Skirmish' solitary one, then maybe it would work. But, if they're all still going to be mostly like Skirmish, I can already see one thing happening:
Banzai!
Besides, new game modes are best added to community warfare, not the public queues. Otherwise, they're intentionally crippling what is supposed to be the prime reason for MWO's existence.
