Hey everyone, I took a 7 day contract with the FRR, but I was curious if we wanted to stretch our contracts out to 14 days to get a little extra bonus. Given the nature of using alternate accounts it would also give everyone more time to level up in each faction before we switch to the next. So what do you think?

I like it. Heck, I'd even be down with a month at a time... I think most of us spend more time on our "paying" accounts, so a longer window to do something "in unit" would be good.

I had forgotten, or chose to forget anyway. How difficult it can be grinding mechs with all or most of their weapons in the arms. Especially when friendlies don't watch their fire, hate losing that laser arm to a king crab unloading without noticing his left arm is actually behind my right arm.

I'm confused, what is the point of not letting people use their main acount for this?

Isolating statistics for weapons etc. You can't tell otherwise.

That is the "challenge" part. To have to start from scratch and master a chassis that was chosen for you by the quiz. That way everyone starts on the same footing. This way the person with a ton of stored up GXP/mc/cbills can't just buy and level up their mech and have it at peak performance before they ever drop in a round.

How have I just seen this now?!?!?!

I just took the test:

Interesting how I never owned any Huntchys, will get a new acc once I get home and go for it Posted Image

Great idea of a challenge, only a shame I need to have a new account, but oh well, let's do it.

Edit - Or am I too late for this?

Thank you!
Seen that I've already completed the current challenge (left out skirmish wins for an added PT day close to the finish of the challenge), I might as well use it to help improving my new mech :D

Aaaand it is done. All ravens mastered except the Huginn.

I now hate the 3L with the passion of a thousand suns. That thing seems to die really quick and do no damage. RVN-2X is an underrated and amazing machine, and the 4X is...well, it's the 4X. Strap on any energy weapon and turn it into an ER version for no extra cost.

RVN-2X has a WL ratio of 3.55 and KD of 6.85, lol. I guess picking that as a starting mech counts as seal clubbing.

Been spending a lot of time on this acct, playing with my new IIC's and trying to find something to do w/ my Urbies (I had actually forgotten I had them, they were delivered while I was on hiatus) and also realizing the MAD & I -don't- get along. I also got a new job that has necessitated being at work for pretty much the last 14 days. However, I will probably be on Ujio tonight and through the weekend for the challenge and try to grind out enough cbills for my 1st BNC - I think I'm gonna go with the 3M, with 3x AC5 & 3-4 mpls. Not sure what engine to go with, I hear that they're pretty XL-friendly, so maybe XL375..?

I'll admit, being primarily a clanner since I first got into this game (started right about the time Clan Wave 1 dropped), I sometimes find the 'mechlab for IS 'mechs to be somewhat... daunting. So when my Timby and Dire showed up (I bought them ala carte first before realizing later I would be spending a lot of time on this game, I went ahead and purchased the remaining wave one when they introduced the 'retroactive' ability to purchase the remainder of W1), I spent all my time/cbills customizing omnipods & weapons for the Clan 'mechs and never worrying about DHS/Endo/Ferro/engines. I do have a few IS 'mechs on this acct, many simply a result of challenge rewards or Loyalty injections for purchasing various clan packs - it's how I ended up with my AS7-RS(L), KGC-0000(L) & CN9-AH(L) (the latter being the reason I first reached out to Bishop about what to do with CN9's as I had never, EVER, ran an IS medium in all my time playing the game). So the sheer customization allowed always scares me a bit.

This challenge is bringing me out of my comfort zone a bit, so in addition to the main challenge of the new acct, etc., I am also having to learn more about the 'mechlab as a whole and what is and is not viable with IS 'mechs - and having to learn that with a drastically reduced cbill pool and income. It has been.. eye opening to say the least.

The chalenge is what exactly? to not go insane grinding the cbills to buy the gear you need for your mech like new players? Been there, done that, thank god it's over.

Wana make it interesting, make it stock loadout, + that takes the grinding for gear out of the equation, cons: you have to keep it in private match.

I used one trial mech to gather 43k xp for when I purchase its variant.
Then I bought another variant (still the only purchased one so far) and I still have 12 million cbills after upgrades and fitting the mech.

So yeah... not that big of a deal grinding...

Edit - When I get into my account regular account in-game (this one) I will purchase hunchbacks :D

Hunchback, I'm in. Not the mech I play the most, but was the first mech I associated with anyway. Always loved the hunch. Guess it wasn't a coincidence.

*Shudders* Oh god if I had to run stock panthers about I think I'd lose it. Okay honestly might not be so bad against other stock mechs. But still heavy/assault speed light with single heat sinks and one hot main weapon makes me cringe thinking about it.

My mech happens to be Panthers, and I had to do the first few matches with the stock engine while getting enough for the XL. Biggest issue was, surprisingly, not survivability, but actually getting to the fight before things were more or less over.

Taking a break from the Challenge to play with my shiny new Marauders for a bit, will be back though. Nice work keeping the Challenge going 3x!
