You do not get stats in CW! if you played a trial mech outside of CW you have disqualified yourself from the challenge, no matter how impressive your stats are with your Challenge mech!

You start out with 5 million from training and then cadet bonus. If you do not have enough and there is no Atlas trial mech, then use whichever IS trial Assault until you have enough for your first Atlas, it would still be in the spirit of the challenge.
That is the core of the challenge, using a mech that was not your first choice.
Your Quote - I drove that banshee until I had enough for that -RS, single heatsinks and all.

Alright, I apologize, I do remember saying that anyone who ended up with assault mechs could use trial mechs until you could afford the first of your Challenge mechs. Good work, you are still a successful challenger!

So not that I have finished bonus challenge 1 yet (still working on mastering victors...being in Tier 3 makes that difficult), but just to clarify on Bonus challenge 2...does original weight class mean assault/heavy/etc...or straight equal tonnage? So Victor is 80 tons, I need to go for the Gargoyle? Eeep...or is it any assault mech?

Darn I did it wrong then. Oh well I was having fun with the thing too. I must have missed that line and used trial mechs for part of the cadet part because well thats what normally happens.

For example, in my case, having drawn the Atlas, I used the RS(C), until I could afford a D. Now I'm saving up for a D-DC, and then will probably buy an RS for my 3rd, to capitalize on the exp I earned with the trial mech.
If there had not been an Atlas trial mech to use, I could have used another IS Trial Assault in it's place, but only until I could afford my first Atlas.
You might still be alright Darlith.

So, the Hunchies are my personel 3rd Challenge. After that i can try to "Cheetah"

Really, when I first thought up the challenge, I did not consider the cost difference between the mechs. Obviously Challengers who got lights or mediums would be able to buy their first variant with the Cbills they earn from the academy, but the Challengers who got Heavies or Assaults would probably have to grind through their cadet games before they had enough. So, to make it possible for Challengers who got Heavies or Assaults I listened to some feedback and decided to allow them to use the trial version of their mech (if it is available), or whatever IS trial mech is available at the time for that weight class. As soon as you earn enough Cbills to buy the first variant of your Challenge mech, then you stop using the trial mech and start using your stock Challenge mech (or modified with any Cbills you had left over after buying it).
We can still use trial mechs to fill our CW drop decks too if necessary, since MWO does not track CW statistics yet. You do still need to have at least one of your Challenge mechs in the CW drop deck though. The point of doing CW and taking 7 day contracts is so that we can rank up in each faction to get the free mechbays and also to take part in any CW related events for more free stuff.
By the way, my Marauders are progressing nicely and I should be able to get back to the challenge in a few days.

Ermmm..upn reading this I may have made a grevious error.....I did 6 matches in the HBK trial before buying the regular version of said trial...have I messed up?
I used the Op as a guide and it didn't say anything about the trial mech....I did buy exactly the same model if that counts?

I wouldn't sweat it too much. I think it was a gray area in the rules. Now that Ed has clarified we all know.
