This does raise the question of whether Arrow IV will just be a commander option or can we look forward too Catapults with Arrows IVs walking around

I found the Arrow IV missle to be a bit annoying in MW4. Here you have your standard 60t Vulture that would otherwise not pose much of a threat to a heavier Mad Cat w/ LAMS. All the sudden, the Vulture pulls out a pair of Thunderbolt missles and pounds on it's foe's CT with relentless accuracy, magically making it past the anti-missle 100% of the time. What's worse, this pilot added BAP so it can hit the Cat from 1000+ meters without the enemy even aware of it's presence. My point is that the Arrow needs some scaling down to at least make it comparable to other weapons around 14 tons. Was Fen Cheng not the most annoying enemy for anyone else in the Solaris matches?

What is wrong with it? It is at least one ballanced thing in MW4. :)

The Arrow IV isn't just 'mech mounted. There are a number of ground mount, vehicle mount and even aerospace dropped version sas well. The 'mech version just makes it better able to keep up with rapidly moving 'mech forces.

I really like the idea of having an artillery lance, armed with LRM's and Arrow IV's. Offboard artillery should be handled through the commanders 'mech and be delivered via long toms or other tube arty.

On-map indirect fire via LRMs and Arrows will add a nice tactical flavor into this. And with it being urban combat focused it will be even better as everyone has to worry about sight lines from the perimeter and flanks, and the good thing about Arrows being mounted on Catapults is that they get some decent mobility to get into those positions.

I am very interested in how the game mechanics for all this is going to work out.

Scouts Out!!!!!!!!!!

The only problem is that the Cappies are so secretive and scheming that they wouldn't mention something like this...

It's a trap!

No. The Capellans have a great internal security force to police their own people, but there are quite a few networks out there that surpass them in surveillance capacity - Comstar, Wolfnet, and Santa's Black-Ops Elf network to name a few.

I just found gameplay (online mostly) to lose value when people load up their assaulties with a weapon that can cause an enormous amount of damage at any specified range with a moderately small tonnage cost. What's the point of an LRM or Gauss Rifle if you can just Arrow the foe down?

They all have excellent surveillance capability but ever since the end of the Fourth Succession War, the Capellan Confederation has diligently maintained its counter-intelligence. And now because of this news article Romano Liao is likely to give us another Maskirovka purge for Christmas!

This is the best present ever! Not only do we get Arrow IV artillery, but we'll also be getting better security for the Capellan state. Long live the Chancellor!

Guess you haven't played any Mechwarrior games before but originally Arrow IV was an artillery system but they miniaturized it and fit on a mech.

Well, kudos to the Cap's. But of course losing half your mechs torso when the launcher misfires is a pyrric victory at best. FWL agents will have those specs soon enough and when those Arrows are being manufactured in facilities that have a lick of engineering chops THEN we'll see some impressive fireworks.
