I think you might be surprised; part of the model in these games is people spending money to get stuff Right Now, and that's all this sale is.

There's players in F2P games who make spending efficiently into its own little metagame, and there's also people who just buy stuff that they want because they want it. They're unlikely to release figures but I bet they do a pretty good business.

I bought my first Atlas using MC and considering buying Blackjacks and Wolverines for MC. I will then use the c-bills I have on hand to upgrade them.

I'm going to have about 8 mechs dropping on me very soon so I need the bills for the upgrades.

Sales like this are just a marketing thing. They are not meant to actually sell mechs for MC, but to remind you that you could spend the MC won from the event. Also, if somebody actually buys a mech for MC, it would be a quick and easy way of cashing in on this way of thinking:

I can't make 150 match score because this stupid mech sucks. I have no c-bills. Let me spend some extra $$ and buy a better, bigger mech with more wub or more daka.. oh, look, its even on sale.. so why not?

Ok, maybe not no one, but i guarantee that at least 90% of us have never bought a standard mech variant with MC. Why is it that mechs are only on sale for MC?

The Halloween sale sucks.

The only good thing to come from this sale is the Phranken one-shot for 62 MC.

Hey look it's my 1,000th post!!!

Given that, to the best of my knowledge, we have no data on this other than people going "I NEVER DO THIS SO NO ONE ELSE EVER DOES THIS!" we can never say for sure. However they keep on having the sales, so logically that has to be making them some money from it or they wouldn't bother wasting the time doing it.

The sales aren't for the layman.

The sales are for that guy with too much money and not enough time, who would rather just drop 50-some bucks to get a 'mech with MC rather than grind for 10 hours to get the same thing.

I imagine they exist... MWO hasn't gone out of business yet, so someone's financially supporting it.

Adder is one of my best mechs. It kills things nicely and has the sexiest engine sound of all mechs. B)

It bugs me when I go to buy a new mech, the MC option is checked first and I have never bought a standard mech with MC unless it was on accident (see first part of this sentence). Been such a long time since I have even done that though, I am not sure if it's changed yet.

Do you realize this is a F2P game and probably 90% of the players don't buy anything at all?

I have definitely been lazy and bought a variant here or there for MC, but then I buy MC when it goes on sale and horde it for sales.

I've bought several mechs with MC. I needed a couple extra D-DCs, Firestarters, and Hunchies.

Ditto what Bilbo said. I use MC to buy extra mechs of types I already have. Also ditto Jetfire, if you're going to use MC buy it on sale and then horde it for sales. Buying efficiently and building a wide variety of mechs is half my enjoyment of this game...perhaps more than half.

I have loads of MC. I reserve cbills for upgrades and modules (because that's the only way to afford them). Buying mechs with MC lets me upgrade sooner. But that's just me.

Shoot me I'm a whale. (Though have stopped spending after Resistance 1. Too many mechs, not enough time to play them all.)

This is pretty much me to a T.

I have Wave 1, Resistance 1, Urbies, and Hunchback IIC package, Marauder and Warhammer coming. I used to spend MC on mechs because of a lack of c-bills.

Now I have nearly 70 million c-bills, a dozen empty mech bays that I got during the half of sale and no real urge to buy new mechs just yet because I have so many to elite even.

20 million cbills in the bank. Would be nice to pickup the warhawk with my warchest, but it can wait.

Will probably buy some one-shot camos to encourage MORE ONE-SHOT CAMO SALES (in conjunction with the MC from the event, very nice combo).

Focus on the good here, PGI is having their first one-shot camo sale... ever? I don't even really care for the phranken camo, but I'm going to get one to support the idea.

Tried to quote Dakota but not working on my phone.

The MC sale followed by an item sale would be good business if you didn't simultaneously have an event that both gave away MC and some of the items you placed on sale.

So even though I converted XP I now have more MC, without spending a penny, and even less to spend it on.

Seeing all the new mech all the time id say 50 % of the playerbase spend to some extent. some for complete pack, others for single pack etc. This is a niche game, a niche player base is more willing than commoners just trying a game.

Wrong, most of my mech collection (around 100) were brought with MC.
