As of this post Harebrained Schemes is still about $260,000 dollars short of reaching the 2.5 million that they are trying to raise so that many of you can get the PvP that you so desperately want.

Donations seem to be slowly trickling in, but not at a pace that will make the goal.

What do you think?
Will they make it?
Are you pulling your hair out in frustration seeing that it might not quite "get there"?
Will you dig deeper and come up with more money yourself?
Will HBS go ahead with PvP anyhow? After all, its not just kickstarter people buying the game

For myself, I'm not a sponsor, but will buy the game once it comes out, with or without multiplayer PvP, simply because I like turn based games with strategy.

Like you, I will wait and pay when I see the finished product. Everyone and their mother are nowadays doing kickstarters and/or staying in permanent beta mode spewing out minimally viable products.

HBS has not done that for any of their already, very successful, kickstarters.

They have delivered everything they've promised, as scheduled, multiple times already.

I hope they make it for all those who wish for PvP, but I probably won't play it. Never liked turn based PvP much.

HBS has already delivered two successful kickstarter projects, to much acclaim.

I started this post to get feedback on what people are thinking about the next move for themselves and HBS, not really to start up the "minimally viable product" discussion again.

HBS does, from all accounts, have a decent track record on that front, but I've also read that they won't extend themselves past the goals of the kickstarter either.

Is PvP going to be a decision changer for many of you?

Not extending past the goals of the kickstarter, is exactly how they continue to deliver successful kickstarter backed projects free from the feature creep we see sometimes affect other games in development.

They tell you what they will give you up front, then they deliver it. That's it.

They know what their team can handle.

having multiplayer for a game does wonders for its lifespan and bang-for buck

Get in now during the Kickstarter for $25.00 or wait until the Kickstarter is over and pay roughly $50.00 are your two options, from what they've been hinting at.

They will surpass 2,5 Million with highest assurance - People will shovel enough money into it when the new pachecks are out and the amount of Backers will rise also - dont fear - it will happen!

Hope we can get 8 backer missions done in the last 3 days. I want to see a TT game where 6 beards enter and 3 beards leave.

I'm kinda on the fence. I've only bought the package which gives me the actual game, nothing else. More of a PvE player at heart, so I'm happy with the current funding stage. But if PvP is really, really close during the final day, I might consider upgrading.

I knew it would pass 2.5 million as soon as I saw how much money poured in on the first day. Although I didn't expect it to be this close.

I'm going to contribute $50. I appreciate all the other Battletech fans who are willing to do the same, because let's face it:
  • There really aren't enough good turn-based games on the market. The X-COM games are finally back, thank God, though not with quite the same depth as the originals.
  • There really, really aren't enough Battletech games out there. It's a silly sci-fi universe if you look at it too closely, but the general concept behind Battletech is really great.
  • There really aren't enough games with this kind of immersion and depth. A turn-based game where you hire mercenary pilots, manage contracts, run a dropship and fly around the galaxy? Come on.
  • There really aren't enough non-RPG games that focus on telling a story. Most games being pumped out by the gaming industry are as shallow as a Vin Diesel movie.
  • There really aren't enough small independent gaming companies who get the recognition they deserve. While it is risky to support the smaller companies, it's important to stop the big guys, like EA, from dominating the gaming market. Just for the sake of diversity, it's really important to help companies like HBS. And even PGI, really.
  • There really aren't enough companies on Kickstarter who have a solid track record of delivering on time, without either delaying or pulling a Chris Roberts and expanding their ambitions to the point where people question if they'll ever even set a deadline for themselves.
People who know they're going to buy it and who know they can afford it should really consider that it might be worth the risk of pledging early.

I did. I added $20 to my pledge to get three posters; that's my contribution to the ending frenzy.

That's roughly a 10% increase on my original pledge, mind you.

don't care, really. PvP is not a deal breaker, either way.

Made my Pledge, now it's wait and see.

Going to kick a few more c-bux, pick up a couple of copies for friends who "don't believe in kickstarter" and "don't believe in paying retail", but would would love the game nonetheless. Plus I want to pick up a couple missing sourcebooks.

Yup, Kickstarting a game is a great recipe for failure. Look at $tar Citi$en and the claims of nepotism and incompetence that has been leveled at them and they have gotten a ton of kickstarter funds and are floundering. Plus lets not forget the prior iteration of Battlech that IGP ran up and screwed everyone over.

Whoa... easy there. As DarthGenome wrote, HBS successfully funded and delivered spot on 3 very nice Shadowrun games, and managed to kick start a tabletop game (Golem Arcana) successfully.
