Do You Want A 3D Mechbay?

I am thinking about a 3D Mechbay instead, where you can move the camera to view different angles of your Mechs (esp those spending $ to nicely camo them). Another idea is instead of a flying camera, the camera is fixed to a human-scale first-person level, where you can move it around from the ground, up the stairs to higher level to view your Mechs etc - This should give the Mechs a proper gigantic perspective.
Just a suggestion.

Flying camera has some merit to it, and is a reasonable compromise to "Walk around and take elevators up and down your entire mechbay collection of mechs" people seem to want.

Other than that, your mech is actually seems to be located in the Dropship, thus there will be very little space for other angles. Walking around, or an alternative mechbay environment, are both do not worth the efforts required atm.

And in older versions of MWO, the mechlab camera was dynamic. See here:
We've taken a lot of steps backwards since then. I'd low to see a return of the dynamic camera and the "from foot-level" perspective view of mechs. If you want to see this kind of stuff, keep the word up - keep talking about it, keep asking for it. And Tweet Russ about it, too.

Nah.. you will lose more players if it is really black and white.
They'll leave when they eek their way in to tier 3 where I can eat them alive. I think the mech bay is pretty solid. I've heard of some resolution issues with older screens they should fix. But I really think it should be at the bottom of the list as far as priorities.

New, im ok with it.
Re-worked are mixed in my opinion.
RC - citadel is still there, breaking the map
FC - totaly WORSE then original. this game isnt crysis, god.
CV - nice blue fires, but too much obsticles to "prevent" daytona, in reality, it only breaks there assaults.

A convoy gamemode where you have to escort a convoy of APCs and their escort vehicles to the enemy base might be kindve cool. You could have like 4-5 different vehicles that make up the convoy of 8-12 vehicles (APC, light hover tank, main battletank, LRM carrier, attack heli/VTOL, etc...). The assets could also be reused when they add PVE missions.
Thats the kindve stuff the art designers should be working on. Not 3d mechbays. This game doesnt need superfluous crap like that when its missing core gameplay elements.

1) With the new knowledge of using the engine, the dev's are now capable of making "maps" that are actually different mechbays.
2) The Training Academy shows us that they can place the view out of the cockpit and into "human sized" scale
3) Combining this, they can make a map that is an entire mech command base, with various interactive rooms for various game functions.
4) This would include walk-in mech bays with climb-into-mech mech selection as a possability
5) It would also include other immersion-rich and lore-based rooms such as "Throphy room", Galactic command for CW operations, Library room with Battletech historical and Lore info, and others.
6) It would also mean they can take the mechbay outdoors, placing the viewed mech say, next to an MFB in some god-forsaken desert, or on actual existing maps (like MFB repairing mech on Terra Therma for instance)
7) All of these features would be able to be FULLY CUSTOMISABLE, and as such would be a HUGE extra source of income for PGI. You could buy faction banners and decorations, extra Outdoor MFB setups, Extra room details and such. For Cbills and MC of course.
8) All of this would give players much more customisation, immersion, general game satisfaction and sence of being in a 3050 environment.
9) This would mean that players profit, and by proxy PGI profits, and AGAIN, by proxy players profit.. And everyone is happier.
10) If done BEFORE steam launch this would greatly add to game value, and again, ultimately, more money for PGI.

Anything to give it more "depth" and a better sense of scale would be good in my book. Maybe one or two technicians as well?

RC - ruined by players that can't be bothered to fight anywhere but the citadel.
FC - ruined by players that can't be bothered to fight anywhere but the H9ish area.
CV - actually agree, the old one was nicer looking and the new one has way too much **** that stop movement. Major problem is still that players can't be bothered to fight anywhere but the caldera.
Standard maps really aren't too terrible on the design, a lot of the problem across them is that the players refuse to fight anywhere but a central location instead of making the matches interesting themselves. Your perspective on the matches would entirely change if players would just break the habit and do something different.
