I also really like some of the maps people hate, even if they're inconvenient to me (and others). Caustic is a fun map with a neat tileset (liked it ever since CB). But lol we can't have that, too hot for muh meta.

I was tired enough of HPG Manifold when it was random but somehow appearing alot. Now it's just straight annoying.

Being able to choose is nice, don't get me wrong. Being railroaded by the meta right down to gamemode and map whether you like it or not...not so nice.

Until we can get back the mode option and yet still have it where we can still vote ONLY ON MAPS based on the mode WE CHOOSE, I will not play public queue. PGI, all you've done for the past 3 months is listened to 70% of the player base who are nothing but morons who don't have any skill and havnt been playing as long as many of us have for over a long time to know exactly what balance truly is.

Map selection, THANK YOU!, Match selection PLEASE bring back the selection check boxes, I do not prefer to play Assault or Conquest.

NOT to kine on green eggs and ham either.

I suggest more time available to vote, the wait time for everything else is such that doubling the timer to 30 seconds for voting has many more possible pro's than legitimate con's.

Choose a map, would be a good idea if the maps have the same temperature.

Alpine P., Frozen city and HPG Manifold

Forest C., River city and Grimson strait

NOT good guys I have selected Skirmish and been sent to Assault and Conquest, other games I have NOT been offered option of Skirmish.

This needs to be fixed. I pretty much detest Assault and Conquest.

I do not like CW so do not play it.

A whole lot of players feel this way.

Already seen complaints of people who take so long to join a match, once in they missed the vote and don't like it.

I have seen Desert chosen a few times and it is nowhere near as hot as Therma or Caustic. While the last 2 have lower overall temps, they also have spots (lava and caldera) that clearly spike temp above Desert's 97 C while Desert is a flat temp all over. Desert also has a few different strategies to use on it while the other two have only 2 typical strategies and usually only 1 is focused on.

Ya plus nobody chooses conquest anymore either so I'm always in a skirmish game mode on a cold map. SUPER BORING!! If anything just make it completely random, will fix everything. But as russ said player choice is somewhat of the problem to making match times go faster. I might as well go to CW at least I get to play objective game modes there 100% of the time. Ah well I'll be on here and there but not going to do all day runs like I use to anymore get bored too quickly. Plus more than half the matches I get into are losses. I still enjoy the game but playing all day of skirmish and assault is pretty much a killjoy.

I think they can sort of fix the 'cold map' issue by making the MM pick from three pools of maps: hot, cold and medium maps.

Cold maps: Alpine, HPG, Frozen city / night.
Medium maps: Crimson Strait, Viridian Bog, Forest Colony, River City, Canyon
Hot maps: Terra Therma, Tourmaline Desert, Caustic

If there are map sets like this, then at least you can't selectively pick the coldest map in any given vote. Because there IS no coldest map as such, among each set. They're all about the same.

Can't do much about the game mode picking though... :/

this would be a very short sighted solution because then people would switch to LRM and pick the most open maps to play.

the whole picking a map thing is FLAWED BEYOND BELIEF

What data do you have backing that? LRM boats generally only come out on events anyway because of the minimum scoring requirements. Outside of event days, I'd be lucky to run into 1 or 2 proper LRM boats on a pug match.

And if people are too slow to look for cover, and too damage-focused to bring AMS, then they deserve to get rained on. As it stands, LRMs are the single most counterable weapons in game at the moment. 12 AMS on a team = can't hear your LRM rain. ECM? Can't get locked on. Under a roof? Waste the LRM boat's ammo by remaining locked and letting them rain on your roof. The list goes on.

It'd be more likely that people switch from laserboat meta to gauss-PPC as before, than to LRM boating with the current environment. Remember that the most open maps are also the ones that are conducive to gauss-PPC sniping.

And yes, it's flawed. But I'd rather be able to try and avoid maps with broken geometry (Viridian Bog) or maps with artificially introduced visual issues (Forest Colony) than not at all.

cause 60% of players can't figure out how to win on bog or forest colony now that means the others can't play it


LRM can be devastating on caustic valley even now if the choice for map is gone people will figure this out cause it's easy to figure out if everyone brings a lrm boat you can get back the scary narc and bomb, and when you can pick caustic and canyon and alpine you will see it.
the narc will kill a whole team your AMS won't save you. one narc will have you destroyed when the enemy has an lrm team in those maps

what you mean to say is not slow for cover but spawned in a map like caustic valley where there is only cover in 40% of the map areas. and a narc will instagib you even in the updated version

so change your sentence to:

"if people are so unlucky to spawn in BADLY DESIGNED MAPS THAT LACK COVER and get narc'd by a light mech they deserve to be rained on instagibbed"
