The problem isn't necessarily the voting itself, but that the "random" maps that get to be chosen from probably don't have much weighting based on what maps aren't being played.

First off, I think perhaps it should be a choice of 3 maps to vote on, not 4, just due to the small number of maps this game has currently.

Now for example, if everyone is just picking frozen city or HPG because they are almost always in the selection group, then the fix is to occasionally make the 3-4 choices not be one of those. They could weigh more heavily the maps not being chosen so that they will be likely to be pitted only against other less chosen options, so you might find plenty of times where your choices are between Caldera, Terra Therma, and Canyon or something.

And if everyone would just "chill" for say, even 7 days, then PGI can start to weigh the Maps based on their Data... It has been less than 3 days ffs... :(

The voting system is nice, but I hope they'll throw in a 1/6 change you'll get another map than the one winning.

Under the new voting system I haven't played a single round of Terra Therma.

If that doesn't convince you that this is the single greatest addition to MWO then nothing will.

So Raggedyman...you feel it's 100% fine for YOU to dictate to me what mode/map I play on?

You apparently don't understand the purpose of the voting system. It's not a matter for Raggedyman, or for me, or for you, to dictate anything to anyone; it's all based on the voting system. I have to tell you I've played every single map and every single mode since this new voting system came in and, frankly, I may not like every map or every mode, or various mixtures, but I have enjoyed the games that I have played better than before the new voting system. PGI got this one right.

Now, my hope is that they're taking telemetry on the choices that have been made during this time, and they're trying to level out map play by allowing the four least-played maps and two least-played modes to be chosen.

I do have to say, though, that I had a match two hours ago where both Alpine and Frozen City were in the choices, and people went with Forest Colony, instead... that was definitely different, and I enjoyed it, even if I died ignominiously, hehe.

This map and mode voting are why I don't play mwo right now. It's also the reason I'm not purchasing the rifleman even though it is one of my favorite mechs. I DON'T WANT TO PLAY SKIRMISH!!!

I can just not wrap my mind around this. I mean really "I DON'T WANT TO PLAY SKIRMISH!!!" <<< . The game modes and play are not that different. Not sure what you aer trying to do that you cant have fun in every game mode. Yes some you might like a bi better but not this. Not I HAT THIS GAME MODE and will die if I have to play it????

I didn't do Skirmish even during the event. That's how much I "dislike" (to put things ever so mildly) that game mode.

Well that is the Irony in this game.... all modes are made into skirmish even if the primary objectives and game mode state different. Really kinda of sad....

I remember a time in gaming.....no matter how well you did in the mission, if you failed to meet the objectives....the black screen came up and you failed. Boy, those were the days.

Raggedyman is very happy with the voting system and doesn´t understand different opinions.

Conquest and skirmish are very different to me. In conquest, I use the base caps to influence how the battle goes. If i cap more bases, it puts pressure on the other team. They either have to push their attack harder, or split up to try and take the bases back. If they sit back and poke from cover, the way skirmish matches usually play out, they will lose. I also like to play light mechs. Light mechs tend to be marginalized by the type of gameplay in skirmish mode. Lights are more effective in conquest where speed can make a bigger difference.

"I can just not wrap my mind around this."

Have you ever played checkers? It can be fun. But if I played checkers for a month straight, I would probably get so bored with it that I would never want to play checkers again.

What about Chess? There is more complexity, more variables in play, more things you can do. If I played chess for a month straight, I would get bored with it, but I could put it down for a month and come back for another.

But what if we played both checkers and chess? We could switch it up, so that when we starting get tired of one game, we could play the other for awhile. If we did that I could play checkers and chess for a year without getting so bored with it that I never want to play either again.

That's because the drooling masses prefer the mindlessness that is skirmish. Thinking and situational awareness is hard.

What I find really funny about this statement is that this is EXACTLY the reason I don't like conquest. Most of the maps are far too small to win by cap but what do most of them do... run of in ones and twos and try to cap...and get hunted down and killed one by one. Not to say that you can't occasionally win by cap on some of the bigger maps but the odds are against it happening. Most maps come down to attrition anyway. The reason I play the game is the amount of strategy that can be had but I'm not one to stand around in one spot all drop. Flanking is a very strategic thing when done correctly.

I like the vote if for no other reason than we get to play some of the less common maps that were in the rotation more often (Alpine for instance). The maps I see most often is Mine. Every time it comes up in a vote it is picked. I don't have any complaints, well done PGI.

hahaha limit every que to 4v4 solved !
It reduces the amount of minority massivly and the rate of percent of games that are like you voted
increases massivly too!
No more 12v12 skirmish with bakka pilots in each teams
in a 4v4 you can atleast try to communicate with guys.
