I doubt we will ever see it come back.

As long as light mechs are given the opportunity to jump right into the head of a moving assault and topple them over, I'm game.

We will never see it since us old guys kept chaining Paul to the ground and he got pissed and removed it. Now when asked they just say it won't work because of the work on Hit reg.

It is kind of why the laser nerfs are going in Russ and Paul hate the high alpha builds and that they keep dying to them.

Can't say I blame him. Stun-locks with no way out are bad for a PvP game.

I agree but is was more to show him how dumb it was to give the Dragon knock down of an Atlas. So instead of changing the Dragon they removed knockdowns completely even though the majority of us wanted it.

If it was dumb for a Dragon to have that kind of knockdown than it was dumb for an Atlas to have it as well. Knockdown was cool in MW3, where you could luck out and get some free shots on enemy mechs in PvE.And that you, or a group of players you knew, liked the idea of knockdowns is arbitrary. We no longer are soft-stunlocked down to 15kph when trying to move while legged because people felt it was too much. In light of that, do you really think the playerbase as a whole would have enjoyed knockdowns? I don't believe they would for a second.

Knockdowns would have been fun if balanced properly. It used to be low risk, high reward. If it was high risk, low reward, then it would have been a feature that added realism and depth without destroying the gameplay.

People always look at old features and assume it would have been impossible to balance them differently. It blows my mind.

knockdowns and melee are both Good and Cool and this game suffers from their absence

now obviously "you run into a robot and the robot falls down" is bad but there are certainly better ways of going about it

yeah thats exactly what shouldnt happen with knockdowns.

knockdowns should be fairly uncommon because of their potential to ruin the game with the equivalent of a stunlock.

Speaking of MW3, it was kinda broken to be able to instantly knock over an Atlas or Daishi just by grazing its leg with a few Medium Pulse Lasers, or hitting it with an LB 10-X...

I would prefer there to be more of a significant stagger than a knock down but I think the main issue right now is that in MW:O when two mechs get close to one another physics can get weirder than when two breasts get close to one another in anime.
