I was unable to find anything on the newest dev log and how there was a thanatos sitting there, does anybody know if we will be getting the thanatos or will it be another mech like the flea where we can see it but it is just there?

Probably not. The thanatos features MRMs and ER Medium lasers, neither of which are in the game yet.

Plus its another 75 ton IS mech, right after the BK and with the upcoming MAD and WHM I doubt there'd be another IS heavy so soon. The archer or soemthing would be more likely to come before the thanatos.

Edit: Not to mention the LFE, Heavy PPC, LBX 20 and improved JJs all in the other 2 stock variants that aren't in game yet.

Well, for the Thanatos to be in, we are going to need Medium Range Missles and ER Medium lasers for it's loadout.

The Thany is out of the timeline, as is much of the technology it mounts. It won't be in MWO for quite a long time, if ever.

I think the Thanatos on their desk was a player submitted model that was 3D printed.

Thanatos has a 360 degree torso twist. 360 degree torso twisting mechs are overpowered for the game when they are not gimped like the urban mech due to being able to keep distance and fire at max speeds. Yeah, we can't have the Thanatos. It's too overpowered with it's hit boxes spreading damage everywhere, 360 degree torso twist letting it run away at max speed, and jump jets with top mounted hard points. Thanatos out classes too many IS heavy mechs. Just way too OP.

The 360 twist thing is a Mechwarrior 4 specific design choice, it's not an innate part of the mech. Otherwise, the Vulture and Thor would also have a 360 twist in MWO, just because they did in MW4.
