So, it is very clear with the new voting system that the coldest map and skirmish will be voted for 90% of the time. Personally I find skirmish boring and enjoy conquest even if I am in an assault mech because at least there is something to think about and the more variety the better. What I don't like is being forced to play one mission type and the same maps over and over (last night it was HPG) I like variety and think that the current system is just encouraging meta builds and discourages diversity which is really bad for the game and something I thought PGI were trying to fix.

Also I don't know how events will work when you can only get one mode and 1-3 maps all the time.

I know the new voting system is supposed to help MM but a far better solution is to remove options all together. You get what you get and it is fair for everyone. This would encourage a mixed loadout as laser build might not get a cold map and short ranged builds might get alpine etc.

I would go as far as to say that I would be happy to just go back to an NA server (even though I am an aussie)and remove all the buckets except solo queue/group queue and CW.

Just my thoughts and am interested in what other people think and if this system is the way to go?

Op, they were warned this would happen. Some people though will not believe you till they slam their fingers in the car door and refuse to open it again prrferring instead to try and tug them out because opening the door is to admit failure in their minds.

Get rid of the voting system, it's already making the game feel stagnant. Almost every match is skirmish, and a non-heat intensive map.

I'm bored already, and I've only been playing a few hours.

I mean... There is a reason it is popular. Its layout is balanced and well spaced.

How to enjoy the game when you are dropped in Alpine Peaks for instance, with 300 max meter weapon loadout, on Atlas? Oh, and miles away from your team.

Novakaine... Then they are marketing to the wrong audience for pcs.

Like i have said forcing me to play skirmish... Heck. ANY mode i dont want at that moment is a deal breaker. Currently... If i am truly desiring to play i would stick to cw... But i dont like cw so.... World of warships it is.

Unikron: then it´s your mistake. Get a balanced loadout and you will do better.

I also suggested another idea: You can tag up to four mechs of your preferred weight class for your next match. Be sure to tag different loadouts. When you´re matched and see the map on which the game will take place you choose one out of your tagged mechs to play.

Problem solved

So forcing you to play a game mode is a deal breaker and so you are going to play world of warships? A game that does not let you choose your game mode...

I'm with the op on this. Remove the voting system and go the world of warships route. Chose a random mode and map then proclaim 'game on'.

Yes. The "skirmish" mode in that game is done properly and if i disconnect because the team derped it up hardcore and go off to get a better team i receive zero penalty. The only time i played skirmish lately was when i had a run of 30-4 0 assault matches where the team refused to cap OR defend their base. Plus all the wows maps are decent... Even the ocean map. Why? Because they got detection right as well.

All these things if implemented here would make this voting system better if not superior for game mode. Not map mode...thats just...ugh.

the 'skirmish' mode in WoWS is just the PvP mode. In it you get assault and conquest games to use MWO analogies. They also have a king of the hill style map. What they don't have is the mwo skirmish game mode.

They randomly select from these game modes. You don't choose or vote between them. All you can choose is to play co-op or PvP ranked which the closest analogy to mwo would be choosing to play CW.

Edit: by the by ocean is my favorite map on WoWS as well. I also like how their conquest maps also have a dynamic scoring system based on enemy kills. You get points for calling points but you also lose point for losing ships and rain points for killing ships.

If you can do what my unit does, vote for the hottest map and conquest every time.

Im not fussed either way.

I mostly run laser boats so choosing cold maps is good, but I kind of miss the hot maps as well.

Im sure they phase out selection once they realise that a few of the maps are never used any more.

Then by this logic they should have phased out more than half of the changes they've made over the last 3 years due to how completely asinine and contrived they are.

Seeing as they haven't fixed LRMs and ECM, which have been regularly touted as the most broken elements of the entire game, PGI have not realized that many of the decisions they've made have been the wrong decisions.

The Map/Mode voting system is the latest in a continuing series of left-field, what-the-F-were-you-thinking decisions, and it's not likely to change anytime soon.

Right. Wows has no tdm. I HATE tdm. You also dont have 1 shot insta kills unless a destroyer sneaks up right next to you and puts 4 fish into your side a lt point blank. Or a BB gets lucky as sin and nails your little destroyer with a full broadside. But those are 1 in a million shots and usually your own fault.

Really, if you have a problem with your fellow gamers and the voting system that enables them, might I suggest a sojourn into the wonderful land of CW? It's also different from skirmish-whatever your complaining about, and it's already here.

As for solo queue, since I play it to skill up my IS mechs right now, I actually approve of the faster drop times, even if I do miss Viridian Bog.

I like Frozen City Night. It's one of my favorite maps. I think the voting system is quite likely to make me despise it before very long, though. 'Twould be nice if folks could just grow a pair, learn to manage their heat, and maybe throw a couple fewer alphas around... instead of pushing for the sure path to stagnation and playerbase decline by voting for the same bloody map game after game after game. That. Never. Ends. Well.

Hopefully PGI is collecting lots of data that will point their attention back to the perfectly obvious, and we can dispense with this foolishness quickly.
