It depends on the new game mode. I think most of the Conquest players would enjoy another game mode that is more than just TDM, which is pretty much what we have with the current Skirmish and Assault modes (hence, they play Conquest). A game mode with a viable alternate victory condition that requires a bit more thought/tactics is just what this game needs.

What I was referring to was the old system of game mode selection becoming untenable once we get 5 or more game modes. I think 4 is maximum that can be viable.

As for additional game modes, I say the more the merrier.

here one remove the vote altogether and just randomise it all that way everyone is in the same boat. then after the random setup is done give players a chance to select a mech to run from some sort of drop deck maybe?.

Part of the problem with the vote is that players feel snubbed when they constantly getting game mods and maps they do not like. I sher know i did feel this bit every game that i did play a few days ago. Now i just read the forums to see if they are going to listen to us the player base. For i will not play this my time more valuable to me which means my $$ will be spent elsewhere as well

as for the faster game times . Is a load of crock for me as in it still the same wait time for me.

Initially I did't like the idea, but hey I've adapted my mech-builds for the colder maps since they are appearing so often after the patch. Arse kicking resumed... Its not ideal but its still fun i guess. Just going to wait it out until PGI fix this.

I have a good idea, if you hate the voting system you should ask for your pre-orders back, if enough people remove their pay check they have to listen or go out of business. Not that PGI won't **** up another game just so he can have their way (Duke Nukem cough) but it is worth a shot.

For the record they gave me my money back and I made damn sure they knew why I wanted it back.

Russ updated his November Roadmap

November 17th Patch
***TEXT UPDATED November 13th***

Map and Mode voting will now be weighted.

Each time a player votes for a Map or a Mode that does not win, their vote weight for the next time goes up by one (maximum vote weight is 12).

Each time the player votes for a Map or Mode that wins, their vote weight returns to 1.
If a player does not vote for a Map or a Mode, then the weight for that category remains the same.
For groups, now only the group leader votes. For anyone that is in the group but is not the leader, the Map and Mode buttons are disabled. Also the Map and Mode selection of the leader will be seen on the other group members screens. The vote weights of the leader will also be seen on the group member's screens.

Voters are now allowed to rescind their vote by clicking again on the item (previously they could only change their vote to another selection).

Percentages are now based on the votes cast rather than the total number of possible votes (e.g. if only one person has voted, then the percentage would read 100% rather than 4%).

So it really is here to stay? Oh well, the hiatus continues...

(let's take the Assault out of the equation for a moment)

I still fail to see how getting a higher chance of getting a Conquest after getting Skirmishes and eventually being able to get the freaking Conquest despite other players voting for Skirmish is in any way better than players who want Conquest being able to select Conquest and players who want Skirmish being able to select Skirmish with players who don't have a preference on this filling the blanks and having the shortest wait times...

If we add all 3 modes into the equation, it might go like this (again, let's assume I prefer Conquest over the other modes):
Assault v Skirmish: I hate Skirmish, but if I vote for assault now and it wins, the wieght of my vote will reset and then when if the next match is Conquest v ANYTHING, that anything will most likely win... so should I just skip on the vote and go through the paces of yet another Skirmish, hoping for a Conquest popping up next and my vote being weighted enough to tip the scales...

Thats simple, instead of reverting the system just turn precentage of votes for each map into a precentage chance for this map to be rolled by a computer.

One simple change and everybody wins. Every map can become a place where voting players are going to battle against each other, reagardless of number of votes. The higher number of votes, the higher chance it will be the map. So if only one person votes for terra therma, it can still be rolled, just not likely. Otherwise it's just a tyranny of 51% of people, forcing left 49% to do what they want.

And if the goal is to make the end result essentially random, what's the point of voting to begin with?

It isn't really random, due to the fact you allow players to pick what they want and influence the probability of the roll. More votes, more likely to see the map you wish for, at the same time giving person who want something other a bit of chance to make his or her wish aswell.

Following your logic, the current system is random aswell, because you can't vote for every map and you can only chose between 4 of them.

More likely, maybe, probably...or not likely, probably not. Pretty much a little wishful nudge from the players who may or may not get what they want.

Sounds an awful lot like what we already had minus the extra aggravation.

the chance vote will not work because it is still tyranny. and it still encourages builds if you can pick the map you want to play on.

that hurts variety in the game. - think about this: it's a logical progression ok?

popular build is laser build. therefore. ->
laser build players pick frozen -> (ergo)
frozen city is a popular map, and so ->
laser build becomes an even MORE popular build ->
ad infinitum.( )

it's a badly reinforcing feedback loop

it's like what you see in cases of addiction~ the whole environment is rotten

Damn you Russ! For that to work a map, a willing to vote player(s) and weighted vote, all of that needs to come together, otherwise it's the same as now. Which means no serious change will come - it will soften ditstribution a bit, but that's all it will do.
As been said, if goal is more random maps, than just do them random.

Don't revert to the old system. Give this one more than a week.

It didn't need more than a day. Time to revert back to the old system. I'm starting to play Skirmish/HPG in my sleep!
