That gargoyle is not a sustainable build...there is not way you will do anything with that mech. Its way too hot.
Maybe try to make some build that are on par with heat and firepower?\
You put 2 lpl and med in the aws and them cram 7 lasers on the garg and wonder why the one does more dmg then the other? You have Missle hardpoints...use them. The AWS is not a gargoyle or a WHK no matter how much you want it to be. Its also not an Omni mech and doesnt get the benefit of Omni and and an all laser loadout.
Really dude, cherry picked builds (and bad ones at that) dont make your story any better. Also the AWS needs a lot more then just some hardpoints. Like maybe a rescale?
You do realize I used those two 80 tonners as comparable because they can both fit 400XLs and 19 heatsinks? I also took Fero on the AWS because its on the GAR not endo so they would have comparable podspace.. The only other one that comes close is the 9M which can have a 385. The point is the huge alpha the GAR can bring, not how many times he can alpha. It wasn't about building meta either it was availability of hard points. The GAR gets a 62 alpha over the AWS 28. The AWS can alpha more times than the GAR but an AWS with an XL that big is much weaker and wont put out as much damage as the GAR in a short amount of time. The AWS needs staying power to bring its lower alpha to the party.
This isn't about cherry picking builds or even about good builds and the lack of missiles on the AWS doesn't change the fact that the GAR out preforms the AWS in every way. The AWS has to drop down in engine size to fit SRMs or LRMs and the tube counts for the AWS PB are severely limited.
PRETTY BABY
GAR-A
16tons of podspace vs 18 tons of podspace with the same engines and structure, armor and heatsinks. If you swap Ferro for Endo on the AWS you get 18 tons of free space but innersphere weapons are more tons and more slots.
PRETTY BABY
This is a finely tuned build that I currently use on my AWS.
PRETTY BABY
I'm sure its not the best build but I have fun with it.
WHK with 4x LRM 15s can brawl, the AWS 8R is 5 tons lighter but with a very similar load out is immediately outclassed by speed, heatsinks and secondary weapons while both have almost 2000 LRM ammo and Tag.
These are not meant to be optimal builds but similar roles on the field of battle and what they can bring. The GAR and the WHK out class the AWS by a huge margin. Not just size and cXL but in total hardpoints and the weight difference of clan weapons.
I'm arguing
for more armor and more hardpoints for the Innersphere assaults if they are to try to reach out and balance them. I thought people could follow my train of thought with the examples provided. The
bad innersphere mechs are much worse than the
bad clan mechs. That they need to buff the VTR, HGN, BLR, AWS and AS7 with more hardpoints and more armor so they can last longer if they do take an innersphere XL engine.
Bad builds, sure, but the point wasn't how good I could build one but how similar I can make them and the difference inherent in similarly configured mechs.
