Map choice will be limited to 3, what will help at least a bit. Rewards for capping (it is happening!) are also already scheduled. I wouldn't be suprised if direct voting system gets tweaked for 100k dice roll where votes determine the chances of individual map/modes.
Plus, I got the feeling that the hate for getting the same mode on the same map is starting to pile up and I see more and more votes for everything BUT skirmish on frozen city. People are also starting to learn how to vote against a 'popular' map, I saw voting that went from usual: <1(FCN):20% 2:8% 3:8%, 4:12%> to <1:20% 2:0% 3:0% 4:28%> in a second.
Believe me or not, but I had a conquest on viridian among those few games I played yesterday, and the second the voting started, there was 40% votes on viridian and 30+ percent votes on conquest. Clearly, the majority is starting to get bored with frozen. Almost got the mordor the next match, lost by 4%
When it comes to modes, we clearly need at least 1 more mode too choose from ASAP. There is one neat (my

This. With a 4th mode, skirmish would be a choice on half of the matches, not 2/3 like it is now.
Another solution could be limiting the elegible maps by ambient heat:
Hot: Tourmaline desert, Terra therma or Caustic valley.
Cold: Frozen city, Alpine Peaks or HPG manifold.
Temperate: The rest of the maps.
This way, hot maps couldn't be avoided. Still, some maps would be more popular than others, but i think that's unavoidable if the voting system is going to stay.

I know there are people out there that like the voting system but I still think that if options are removed then the game would be quicker, fairer and better overall.
Umm, no, keep voting. yeah, sure cold maps average has gone up. Meanwhile my wait times have gone to pretty much instant.

I would suggest it's more along the lines of;
It complements the moment current laser meta by decreasing the chances of overheat.
It is small meaning the match gets underway faster and in the same place thus increasing turnaround and C Bills per hour.
Players who have played longer have their settings so that the fog is not a problem while other players are blind and can be easily sealclubbed.
Hmm, you mean high tier players playing with potato machines because they don't need better because they play with lowest setting anyways?
Actually tried that... the amount of stuff NOT being rendered at low setting is appalling! it is no even funny how much easier it is to spot enemy mechs with no effects on in forest colony, I felt dirty and went back to playing with all eye candy and "wondering" how da *** that player can see me because for me there is a lot stuff inbetween that I can't possibly make out his ecm:d mech from environment.
I do hope that we can get rid of these players that INSIST on playing machines from last millenium because they can get the benefit of less stuff being rendered and making it more difficult to precisely spot enemy mech. Lots of "big" forum warriors defend these potato machines, I'd like to think it is not because they are using lowest setting to get an advantage in the game... I think I'm propably wrong though

Yesterday night I dropped 3 times facing a 12 premade full of cheetos+stormcrow, and conquest all the time.
It's the democrazy, guys! Most unbalance matches ever!
Some can have fun, while the others 12 don't even can disco without penalities
But you and your friends were doing that to others, intentionally and with malice.
That is OK but when you have to face them, it is not?
Reap what you sow pal and enjoy the karma you earned on this one.

One of my concerns is what ratio has PGI set to each map for appearance in the rotation, are each set at the same value or altered to push a certain mode?
I do not approve of the new map voting system and i feel the quality of matches has dropped by 50%

Does it help that their is no depth to the game besides just he actual combat and mech configuring? Absolutely not. A salvage system where we could find mech parts, rebuild damaged mechs, build mechs and Phase 3 of CW would help.

That's easier said than done, i've introduced 7 friends to this game and not one of them has stayed longer than 2 weeks. All of them tell me the exact same thing - the grind for cbills is too much, the prices are too high for real cash purchases and it sucks having to grind 3 chassis of mechs to unlock the higher tier skills.
As long as those issues are a problem people won't stay long after trying mwo out.

Add a roll after the vote with 25 % chance to say: intel was wrong and reinforcements are needed here, random map, in this random game mode.
And for most part you have freedom of choice, sometimes you can chhose therma or caustic, for example.
Random things happening sometimes make for the best matches.

I agree with these points entirely, the map vote is a systematic response from these issues above and low population.

I honestly can't think of any other shooter that uses match making and allows for discrete map selection. CoD, Halo, Gears and other AAA shooters with MM often allow for map and mode voting with modes being tied to maps.

Democracy is two wolves and a sheep deciding whats for dinner. Mob rules only serve the mob. As the population is on the bones of its arse only the tryhards really have any say in this system.
That does not promote increasiing player population so I hope the tryhards can support the game by themselves.
