I wrote this down to remind myself of the achievement.
Nova-S <4 MGs with 2 tons ammo, 2 ER Medium Lasers, 4 Medium Pulse Lasers, 1 AMS with 1 ton ammo, and BAP> = 8 Kills (3 Assists) 789 Damage Mining Collective [Victory n Survive]. Ran out of MG rounds on the last target, an ECM Kitfox with ER PPC. With BAP saw his perch on building. He dropped down in the small area where he trapped himself. Managed to get the kill by finishing off his remaining leg. Two other survivors on my team. Morning of March 10, 2015

oh you mean back in the good old days where IS mechs didn't need uberquirks to survive?
I think it's more impressive now, with all the clan lasers spam and ACHs everywhere

got mine Hard mode .... HBK-4G. No quantum armor lagshield or running from trouble for me! In my 81 kph glory..... was out of ammo, down to one medium laser and no side torsos, but I came, I saw, I conquered.
And I had to walk uphill in the snow to do it!
OK...the snow part might be an exaggeration.... it was Canyon Network. Seems like I have all my best 4G matches on that map.

This is when a Locust went splat in one PPFLD shot and you had to dodge those fuzzy death balls filling the air, when you couldn't turn on a dime and a Victor or Cataphract could track you with ease, and there were no long-range, light-weight Jesus-lasers to boat. Running five small pulse lasers put you on the edge of your heat management in a pitched fight, and six was too many. Other Lights could make mince-meat out of you because the Locust was not appreciably quicker than them and thus had a much harder time juking shots. This was also back when the FS9-E was considered the best, and when Firestarters were at their most "broken." Spiders were also "broken" at this time.
The Locust is far and away easier to play today than it was back then, and if you need a reminder of those times then the PTS right now is a fairly accurate one. Add in 8 more 'Mechs per team, and it'll be a veritable time machine. Owning a match in a Locust today is still a feat, make no mistake, but it's something you find more frequently now than you did then, because now the LCT-1E is legitimately one of the best Lights for mid-range poke. What's most impressive about the OP's run is that he was still using SPL, and SPLs are the sub-optimal way to play the LCT-1E.

And heavy-mech firepower? It's a 24-point alpha with 149m optimal range. That must be a really crappy heavy...
I was exaggerating of course. But FYI you don't play Locust 1E with SPL, You play it with ML's with 25 damage to 365 meters optimal, which gives you enough range and the speed to relocate and peek poke quite a bit with high mounted weapons. It has more survivability than most heavies tbh and often a great damage dealer in the right hands.

I was one kill away from the Ace in a Locust myself, one time. Alas a teammate stole the final kill.
Be careful about starting threads like these though. A dozen Dire Wolf pilots will thunder in and declare that Locusts are OP. "They have the firepower of heavy mechs, herp derp."

Lol. I happen to run 1E often enough to know it's power and on top of that I hate piloting Dire Wolf. Nice accomplishment but the 1E is not the bad mech people want to make believe.

Ha ha... I hear ya, and your words are very true. This would be the time that I decided to buy all my Locust's and master them, after all, I do love a challenge.

Meh. Not gonna argue with you, but that was the time period I was trolling people with my "Red October" 2x LRM5 locust 3M (or was it 1M..I forget which came first) and doing it successfully....and when I got 3 other guys in my old unit to run Lolcusts with me.... and we got 9 of the kills in a match where our team derped to death in like the first 3 minutes.
won't deny that quirks have made them different beasts.... but they were criminally underrated from the start, and there were quite a few nutty locusts jocks doing rather well pre quirk.

As for the "Makes a bit more sense... still nothing amazing for that game" money and xp wise I'd agree. Damage and kills I doubt a dire could do it.They might have their nice big alpha. Too bad they turn so slow and once I'm past their cof they really don't have a chance at all unless a team mate comes to their rescue. Any good light pilot can kill a dire as long as they keep out of its firing arc.
I like the challenge and thrill of the bug. I refuse to use the cheaters. It would make the game so much less entertaining for me. As for fire starters, I have them all mastered including the ember. Then I sold them all keeping ember only.
