Pugs get stomped and it's the pugs fault, and not pgi's fault since they (badly) designed the mode.
An interesting stance taken in no game ever (that I've played anyway) except MWO.

You do not put newbies in with "skilled/longtime" players. Ever!
That's why games have MM's.

But not in CW.

In CW, anything goes.

And that's to be expected.

Word to all the Solo complainers:

Dafuq is your problem?

I drop solo, 2 man, 3 man, 12 man, whatever man and i know i'm doing quite fine.

Always try to bring my 1000+ with or without my mates. I never thought i would say this on forums but "L2FCKINGP".

If you not manage to bring your weight and damage, you are not allowed to complain about a **** going on in CW.

You don't like it? Don't play it! And if you don't want to adapt, pls stay away from my harsh but warm deserts of community warfare!

Wait, what? Since when? Now, I know I'm not all that big into pvp games, but pretty much every online game I've played is very much, 'Here ya go!' sorta game, where it is truely anything goes. This whole 'Psr' thing is actually a step closer to segregation than what I'm used to.

I mean games rarely have MM's to separate new/longtime players but they should. On forums for nearly every pvp game there are endless threads about longtime players beating the crap out of new players. You would think that game companies would learn from this, but I guess it's easier to lose players because of this than to make a decent MM.

Most modern games feature some kind of skill based matchmaking. Some examples include: CS:Go, LoL, Dota 2, Hearthstone, Starcraft 2 and many, many more.

1) half of those games is 1v1, rest is max 4v4 with the exception of CS.
2) all of them suck. I still play Quake 3 engine games (Wolf:ET, SoF2, etc) because of all the "modern" ******** they shovel into the games for the last 8 years. You don't even get server browsers in most of multiplayer games anymore! WTF is this? What happened to connecting to the server, day after day, being everyones ***** and learning, training and skilling up untill YOU are the king of the server and everyone else is your *****? Where did the multiplayer gaming go?

PGI needs to institute a warning box that says something along the lines of "WARNING: You just selected to play COMMUNITY Warfare. You should expect to see COMMUNITIES, playing together as COMMUNITIES in this game mode. If you do not like this DO NOT PLAY THIS GAMEMODE.

What I would like to see is:

"WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! We have detected TRIAL mechs in your drop deck. Please be advised that TRIAL mechs are not optimized for Community Warfare and you will not have a positive experience using them in CW. Please stick to public and group matches until you have a full deck of owned mechs. "WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!!

It is strange to me. My entire online gaming experience ever has been with friends. I rarely ever drop solo in anything, regardless of the game. The only time I see solo dropping in my life is when I see the kids play Xbox or PS4 ... much of that is solo random stuff. Even now though the kids see that grouping up with their friends has advantages in cooperation. It still blows my mind that Team Based gaming seems so contradictory to so many. Nearly all of my friends play games as groups (unless its a solo game). Most work high level performers in the real work do are part of working teams which work together. Working together is natural.

I get why guys at times play solo ... because sometimes the time just isn't there to invest into a group ... but typically the experience is going to be less than optimal because of it.

I can assure you that DOTA 2 that team work is critical. We at NS at times play Heroes of the Storm and even as scrubs working together allows us to win more often than not. Its all about the team work. Every game ever created has this issue. Its why I can't get into CoD anymore ... the lack of server browser (for a home server to play on) and basic YOLO SOLO play of so many players isn't terribly interesting.

The PUGs who are being farmed should be angry at PGI for creating such poorly designed CW mode with no matchmaking, not blaming the units who beat them.

I only get angry at 12-mans when they are poor winners, trash talking about how good they are while farming PUGs. (No, you're not necessarily good at Mechwarrior, you're good at exploiting a broken mode which pits large groups of experienced players against 12 random noobs.)

I do get irritated when 12-mans spawn rush and then camp for 15 minutes, because it's unsporting, and just drives new players away. When my unit gets dropped against PUGs, we try to give them some kills and wish them better matchmaking next time.

It was the opposite for me. I'm older , though, and grew up in era before the internet. For me, PvE was about the only way to play a computer-based game until I was well into my 20's.

But even I, curmudgeon though I am, figured out that in THIS game going it alone was not a good idea. I did it for a while in MW:O and was pretty terrible. Even after I did research and bought the right mechs with good loadouts I still didn't get as far as I wanted in terms of playing ability. It was only a little over a year ago I bit the bullet and went full-on team play with a unit that emphasized ability and with consistent comms. My game skyrocketed.

Those two things are not unrelated.

100% agree. That wasn't my point. My point was team size. It's easy to matchmake for 1v1 or 4v4 with millions of players. Now do that for 12v12 with a fraction of that number of players. Do you see my point now?

Seems like 8v8 may be more reasonable for MWO. It sure works great inside of MRBC.

I am 41, prior to the internet my gaming experience was largely solo or hot keyboard gaming ... well and I suppose the consoles of the time too.

Every single online FPS game I have ever played, dating back to the 90's required team work for the most part. To get that team work typically required a team. With a few exceptions I've always teamed up in online Team based FPS games. Everyone I know in real life largely teams up as well inside of FPS Online Team based games. My nephew with his friends team up. My own kids with their friends team up. Yet somehow some way Teaming up is counterintuitive inside this community. It's weird to me. In nearly any match I play in the solo queue the players with unit tags do better.

I believe this may be a case of your mileage may vary. Although I've seen similar experiences in terms of RL friends teaming up in a game the size of the team playing at any given time tends to usually be small. And until I joined a unit and brought along a friend, I too was a "group with RL friends only player". As for tags, depends on the tag. There only a handful of tags that if I see a person drop with it on the other team, I put odds on the other team winning because most members of that unit have a reputation of at least trying to get the team to work together and if that fails can do their fair share of carrying.

The logic is that people want to play the game. Being told they have to join a unit to play basically means don't play.
Of course coordinated teams have the advantage. That's why solo players (solo, not those with no unit tag) should be separated from groups.
Not everyone wants to, or even can join a unit.

I've already taken steps to change that, & how myself & so many others have done in order to do so is to not touch Community, or should I say, "Unit Warfare" with a ten-foot pole, & stay in the public queues.

I might be only slightly smarter than some of the other PUGs still around this mode, but unfortunately, the only thing that can fix stupid is natural selection.

Everyone CAN do that(join a unit). The problem is that the most casual of casual players wants to play the most time intensive and coordinated version of this game available. And blame it on 'Joining a unit is too hard'. It's not. Go to the forums here, or ask in game anyone with a unit tag, "Hey I enjoyed dropping with you in this CW drop, your calls were good, is your unit(insert unit tag here) recruiting?"

It's so easy a caveman can do it.

Don't whine at PGI that you cannot compete in HARD mode, when you can't do even be bothered to do, the simplest thing to help enjoy that mode.

This is like arguing that Hard difficulty in a for example strategy game should be made easy because not everyone wants to, or even can learn the hotkeys.
