Where's The Fun Gone?

Personally I think the new Map Vote system has taken away a very important part of the game.
I actually enjoyed the trepidation of waiting to see what map I would get. You could almost hear the groans from the laser boats when Terra Therma appeared whereas the Dual Gauss mechs can't wait to get started.
Game mode does not concern me too much but it was nice to have the option to choose something a little different. Again this adds to the "fun" of the game.
So for me and I suspect a few others this is going to get very boring very quickly...

It is with decisions like these that even I sometimes doubt whether PGI understands their game,...
We'll see how long the voting option lasts

This is ridiculous, it's skirmish warrior online with maps that are small, boring and generally cold (seems to be the main reason why ppl vote for them), because lasers.
This is baffling and I don't think it is an improvement. As much as I am looking forward to hanging out on the new PTS, map voting is just a bad idea. More democracy = more stupidity

I liked not knowing whitch map or game mode was about to hit me. I liked having to cope with less or more preferable conditions (maps). I liked having to deal with therra every once in while. It gave me sence of being a mechpilot not knowing where my next fight will be. It gave me challenge and diversity.
I understand the wish to shorten machtmaker waiting time but this way the price that is being payed is diversity of play. And that is NOT okay for me.
- Don't put game mode in a voting system (if there must be more incentive to play give the different modes some achievements or something),
- If there must be map voting then put up only 2 at the time and group them per heatscale (2 hot maps or 2 temperate maps or to cold maps etc.).

Map voting should be removed too. Random maps is the way to go.

I could see leaving map voting in if it actually reduced wait times, but since if anything it makes them longer I am a fan of completely removing the whole voting function as well. Mind you I was a fan of leaving game mode to random as well, but trolls and high alpha "competitive" players had a **** storm bitching about having to play conquest. I guess it is the same people defending the new system as well. I guess PGI is a business and only cares about extracting money from diehard fans and high alpha "competitive" with money whales.

Yes. But now they can "vote-force" everyone to playing "their" mode, including the previously Conquest-only players (or non-skirmish players in general), thus increasing the population in Skirmish games.
For the record, I haven't dropped in the last day, but I found the wait times no shorter than before, when I had Skirmish un-checked and had to search for games within the smaller population. So I really fail to see how this helps.

The current system is open to larger groups min/maxing their decks and voting the specific map and mode which best favours them.

That being said, they will have to find a way to encourage people to play something other than cold maps and skirmish. A much needed revamp of the conquest game mode is in order ( I'd turn it into take and hold myself and drop cap points ) and perhaps even c-bill bonus to earnings for taking maps/game modes that comparatively haven't been played much in say the last 15 mins.

Is that true that someone said this silly thing?
Maybe he meant: "...going forward to shedding players and losing money"?

Here are some ideas.
Vote now.
- (1) Keep the new voting system, it works for me.
- (2) Go back to the previous system. I like random maps but I prefer to select game type.
- (3) Go back even further to random maps and game type.
- (4) Go back to 8 players, I loved the old days.
- (5) Back to the drawing board.
I would probably pick option 4.. haha
